Hi everyone,

i just need some advice about a possible van purchase
the van in question is on ebay

LINK ---> http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190031557488

its pretty normal looking, boring old van sorta stuff

with one exception, this
http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/107149486528646.jpg

thats a 3.8L V6 engine out of a VN commodore

the seller is in sydney, Revesby
im not sure of the suburb but would like to know whether the area has a "reputation"

also he claims to have engineers cert and from what he has written i assume it has had rego since the conversion

anyways, i am looking for something to do trackdays with over summer with the first one being on the 2nd of october
so i would like to be sure this thing is decent
(well, as sure as one can be about something on eBay...)

what would really be super is if someone could maybe check it out for me?

if not, do you think i should let the auction pass through (assuming no-one will bid) and then go for a day-trip on the weekend and check it out?

either way, i will probably call the bloke tomorrow and ask a few things

is there anyway that i can check that the engineers cert is straight-up
can i get a number for it and call the RTA to verify its legit?

the guy seems to know what he is on about from the description so thats re-assuring :D

anyways, i value (most of) your opinions
and am waiting with baited breathe/keyboard ;)

here are my current list of questions

> engineers certificate number
> has the suspension and brakes been upgraded to suit the new engine
> how many revs does it do at 110kph (roughly)
> how many k's does it get per tank
> is there a service history
> what brand/model CD player does it have
> is anything required before registration
> when did rego run out (more than 3months means it will have to pass blueslip)
> is it hard/expensive to insure, maybe ask what his last yearly insurance cost if he is of similar age
> what are the hieght and width of the rear door opening (need to squeeze the katana in!)
> when was it previously sold on eBay, how long has it been? did you recieve any money?

anything else?

im not exactly close, but unless someone closer puts their hand up i can go check it out.
from my understanding its a fairly popular conversion.

its about 40 minutes ride for me but im heading down that way on sunday for a ride through the nato so can swing by

you may wanna find out how many K's the engine has done ... conformadoor V6's are a pretty good thing but still you dont
want somfin that's done a million K's

the ad says 54 thousand i think
so not high k's at all

i'll call him this afternoon

i might lower it a bit for the track davo, dont want to try to impersinate rexie :D

thanks for the offer bluemk1
i dont have to work sat now, so i might head down really early on saturday morning and have a look

oh, and it only went out of rego in august from what the auction says so it wont even need a blue-slip, which saves trouble
and the REVs check shows that that engine number matches the records for the chassis, so i think that it is safe to assume that the engineers cert. isnt dodgy

anyways, i will call him and see how he sounds i guess

I would definately call him. If he sounds like a real deadshit then I would run a mile.

V6 in that? Fucking hell, those things handle like shit with the stock motor! Remember to wear your helmet at all times mate if you get it.
