I find it interesting that they run a can, as MotoGP are not required to run baffles, ala the Ducati. I wonder if it runs better with the little bit of back pressure or if they just made it big enough to fit the the sponsors sticker on there!

The bike looks tiny. The 990's were light so imagine these things.

I think the race weights aren't going to be much different to the current weights Nath.
I read something the other day (might have been Rapid) that tyres are going to be a worry because these smaller motors will come on the power pretty hard.

But how long before they cut the class back to 600cc's ?
How crap would THAT be ?

I don't think the can is for added back pressure - if you look at the outlet compared to the intermediate pipe they're the same diameter. It's probably just a small resonant chamber to get a nicer note....and to fit a sponsor sticker.....

I read an article that said the only way to consistantly keep laptimes and thus speeds lower was to go to a control tyre. You cannot ride faster than the tyre performance regardless of capacity. With three years development, the 800's will be up to the power of the 990's, and it will be exactly what you say Rocket, 600 or even weirder 700cc Moto GP bikes? Look at F1, they have been trying to slow the things down for years, but the lap records still fall.

I read somewhere that the Doctor likes running a muffler so he can hear other bikes coming up behind him
