How does it calculate fuel consumption? Is it like the Veypor units where you have to enter how many litres you put in the tank?

Dunno I'll have to check tomorrow. Most of it's gonna wire into your dash loom anyway.

No worries. I am relocating all my wiring at the moment and the more i can leave under the tank the tidier it will be. How many do you have? I will be ordering in the next fortnight. The square type.

online manuals are shite too from the looks of it?

EXBEN
25-07-2006, 08:45 AM
Ok I've had a look & the loom is 300mm from the dash to the plugs then 400mm of loom after that.
The fuel gauge uses a 0-100 ohm resistance signal, like from an oem fuel tank float setup. At worst you'd have to add a resistor to get the correct reading.

If anyone has bought an Acewell dash & is having problems with the Tacho jumping all over the shop the fix is to put a 1M ohm resistor in the yellow line from the Tach signal. That's a 1 mega ohm resistor. You can get one of these from Jaycar or Dick smith for about 25c. Apparently the reason for this is the dash's are suited to any type of ignition system & the CDI systems have a strong signal that can cause interference so the resistor acts as a noise filter.
I'll be supplying a resistor with each dash from now on.

Slingblade
13-08-2006, 11:30 AM
A 1meg resistor? Gee thats hefty for a low voltage signal. Is it on any particular bike Ben? I have the unit wired but i havent started it yet as no fuel tank. I guess i will see soon enough.

EXBEN
13-08-2006, 03:09 PM
So far it's been needed on a Ducati monster & a ZXR but I'm thinking most CDI systems are going to need it. This info has come direct from Acewell's tech department, a lot of these company's seem to forget to put this kinda info on the instructions.???

18-08-2006, 07:00 PM
hi, sorry more specifically, can you supply te square type dash that has the digital temperature gauge/spedo reading as shown on the acewell site and if so how much? also can the magnet/sensor be placed on the rear wheel instead of the front? cheers.

EXBEN
18-08-2006, 11:55 PM
bprib, they don't do a rectangular speedo/temp gauge. Or maybe your seeing something I'm not??
The speed sensor can be fitted to either wheel.

Just wondering if you have any of the 2853's left? Also do you have any of the mounting pods the manufacturers show on they're website? Do you know if these are suitable to mount on a set of renthals?

Cheers

I tried to email you but its saying the email bounced from my email address so not sure if you got it.

I'm dead keen to get one of your speedo's (the 2853 acewell not a pair of budgie smuglers)

so if you could email me and let me know what you need that would be great.

Hey got the Gauges a day earlier then I expected and hooked up like a charm. Thanks Ben awesome service!

Just one question - any idea what resistor I should put in for the fuel guage? Its constanly registering as empty...

EXBEN
28-10-2006, 12:16 AM
zx12argh, The ZX12's fuel sensor reads 126ohms on empty & 8-10ohms on full, which should be close to perfect for the dash which requires a 0 ohm reading on full & 100 ohm reading on empty.( you may want to bend the float arm down slightly so it doesn't read empty too early)
Check your wiring first, then you may want to check that the float sensor is giving the correct reading.
