I will be there with a few mates on the Turbo as the new bike is a few months off yet! Not expecting anything too great, just some seat time like Papa.

One of the guys that will be coming along, ran a 9.90@142MPH with a 1.773 60ft last night on a K6 GSXR 1000, lowered with a pipe!

Should be a good day, looking frward to it.

You might be quicker than me, but sorry mate,
my cash would be on NTB or aBUSa ;)

Still think that after the meet you should post up a
league table of ASF members best times, give folk something
to aim for, bit of friendly rivalry.

Yeah, nothing against Papa, still looking forward to
meeting up, but I was thinking about street / ride to
pub bikes. Just 1 list of ASF members best times ? Wouldnt
be a drama to put something next to a name to indicate
Road or RACE and would be a good comparison between the
two.

I think your on the mark there Si.

Personaly I would be interested in if was ridden to the meet,
trailered in or running slicks/bars.
Should be easy to put something like...
S.R Streetbike Ridden in,
S.T Streetbike Trailered in,
R.B Race Bike,
I saw a lot of "Streetbikes" with rego in the UK running big bore
motors, no lights, huuuuge arms and tiny ground clearance being trailered to meetings.
Just my 5c's worth.
Ozkat and aBUSa might have better idea's.

Tony.J.

(Dont you have Turbokat and Deano's numbers to kick it off with?)

What a top idea.
I think a time slip or dyno sheet would be plenty of verification.

Can't wait to get my old nail posted up there, Kwinana motorplex opens in September so i'm hoping it'll be run in and dynoed by then too. Maybe a few of the perth jockeys can get together and lay down some times.

OK, i got up early this morning to make some final adjustments. The rear end is lowered quiet a bit thanks to crazymofo making me some lowering links and the front wiil be straped when i get to Willowbank. Just fitted my new RRU and that alone should improve my 60ft times alot. Anyway ill see how the RRU goes and if it works as it should ill post in the "How to" section with full details and fitting instruction ;) maybe.

OI! EASE UP THER BUDDY
Here are a few things you might want to consider.
1. This is only the 4th time we have done this.
2. The whole deal is organised & put together by a VERY small band of VOLUNTEERS, yeh that's right we get nothing for it,
we even pay to get in the gate.
3. Eachtime we have done it the numbers have increased from 22 at the first one 40 odd if i remember correctly at the second one,
53 at the third one(which was the first to open at 1.30) & then an AWSEOME turnout of over 84 yesterday.
4. These events were originally started by that group of VOLUNTEERS to get the average punter off the street & give them a taste of dragracing.
5. It would seem that we have created a monster (no pun inteneded)which is why we are already in discussion with track managment to open even earlier,,,more time = more runs
6. We sometimes wonder why we even started it, we tell everyone that if you weren't happy then tell us & we'll see what we can do to fix the problem
but all that seems to happen is that someone always wants to flog us on a forum or the like & that REALLY pisses me off.
7. If you have ANY suggestions on how we can do it better we'd LOVE to here them.
8.Better still do one better than all the previous knockers & put your hand up to help.
9. REMEMBER AT ALL TIMES that EVERYONE concerned with the organisation of these events is a volunteer & does it on there own time, using there own money & resources for promotional material such as flyers & the like, not to mention elevated phone bills, elevated blood pressure, worrying about the weather etc.etc. etc.
10. If you think you can do better go for your bloody life mate & then you can see just how it feels to try to do something positive only to cop shit from people.

Can i ask why did they run that rail during the bike 2 hrs?

papa smurf
06-08-2006, 07:34 PM
I'm told it was because they paid a ridiculous amount of money for a private hire of the track & were running late.
Totally out of our control & trust me added to our stress levels.
Basically it's like this, according to most tracks Bikes always have & always will be the second class cictizens of dragracing.
Fortunately Willowbank is changing it's way of thinking albiet slowly, so at the moment we take whatever we can get & DON"T complain.
Like i said before if ANYONE thinks they can do a better job then go for it.
A particularly CRANKY SMURF.

06-08-2006, 07:36 PM
from what i saw of the event it was well organised Rick. full respect for ya efforts mate.hopefully a 10 or 11 am start would help keep the punters happy. if it wasnt for cars doin "oil downs" there woulda been alot more runs in the night. (fukin rice burners)

Stop ya shit pansy fight before it blows out fellas - WOOOOSSSSAAAAAAA! Mule please understand the amount of time Pappa has put into promoting the sport. So its why he has put forward such a strong explination. Perhaps we all should sit down to a beer and talk to the people at Willowbank and organise an ALL BIKE day so that we can have a better understnading of what goes on behind the curtains. No one is havng a go at anyone so lets relax and dont spoil such a cool arse thread hey fellas.

Well I paid the TnT fee and only got 2 runs. I also heard the tossers complaining But it was a damn pleasure to be there and learn so much. And Mule you gotta be happy with those times ya did mate. Lets keep this a flame free thread

Motorcycle clubs and single race teams hire tracks for trackdays/testing. I think the average trackday costs between $100 and $200 per rider (please correct me if im wrong) Now im pretty sure sure you wont see Brett Stevens or Jay Upton turning up for a T&T, so they must be able to hire the track for testing purposes (again correct me if im wrong) Why cant we as a motorcycle club hire Willowbank on say a sunday for testing? If we were to get 50 riders @ $100 each im sure that would cover the cost of hiring the track and staff. 8am to 4pm would see alot of runs for 50 riders. 50 riders by invitation only would be the way to go i think. Maybe there is a reason why we cant do this and there proberly is, but i thought id ask anyway.

it can be done shayno.. its around 2k to hire the track and staff for 4 or 6 hrs (cant exactly remember finer details) a car club i used to be part of, done this.

but then they require you to have 1st aid/ambo ppl there as well. and st johns will provide 2 people with medical equipment for around 800 for the event. so it can be done.

a big thanks to papa smurf, for the orgainisation and running of the event

cheers.joe.

Yes Shayne it can be done, Brett & other such high profile racers do it all the time, they can afford it.
The reason that most people don't do it though is if it rains you do ya dough.
You're right Bo cool calm & collected is the way to go, gee that beer tastes good.
Mule i actually don't know why it was called a shootout, i didn't name it & the concept was started in Sydney.
Crazymofo, thanks heaps for those links i'll see ya right mate, Hey can anyone tell me what he drinks?
One thing that is getting very close to being able to be lobbied for is a full on ALL BIKE DRAG MEETING with ALL classes right up to top bike.
That is still a while off but it's one thing we're working towards,
just as long s it doesn't effect the shootouts (or whatever else you want to call them)
And can everyone do me a big favour, if ya hear someone having a whinge, point em in my direction & i'll see if i can help.
As much as i seem to be the one in the public view there are other people, namely Mike & his crew that do MOST of the work, not to mention the girls in the tower,,,our girls, not the tracks, again volunteers.
Yes i get defensive and a little carried away sometimes but all we could see yesterday was a bloody AWESOME turnout in response to all our efforts.
It's only going to get bigger & we can't wait till we crack the 100 mark[8D][8D]

Hey Shayne, i just watched your video over & over & over & then it dawned on me.
You'd go heaps faster if you TWISTED THE THROTTLE:D:D
W.O.T.....wide open throttle = low tens;)
I also noticed something in the photo's gix took of my monster, i had no idea my front wheel came up that high,
some adjustment needed there me thinks, shouldn't be any higher than about 50mm, no fucken wonder i keep gettin out of shape.
It is fun tho to see the look on everyones face after an ugly pass & it does make it a little more exciting;)

Ozkat's getting quicker each meet - I keep getting the line in my head from the Drill Sgt. to Private Gomer Pyle in Full Metal Jacket when they're on the firing range -
"Outstanding Private Ozkat, I think we've finally found something you're good at" :D;)

Hey Papa, if you are going to hold one of these in summer, any chance of making it late afternoon because i dont think you will get the numbers if its 35-40 degs and standing there in full gear. My 2 cents worth. ;)

I hear ya mate believe me but we are TOTALLY at the mercy of the track as to when we get to play.
We are not yet in a strong enough position to ask for a totally seperate event & as such will remain attached to the T.N.T's until we either have enough cosistent numbers to warrant it OR a major sponsor comes on board & the whole thing becomes professionally run & promoted instead of a bunch of volunteers flying by the seat of their pants.
Mike is in ongoing negotiations with the track at the moment & so far the only info i have is that they were wrapped with the turnout.
Mike does the hard work with track negotiations etc. I just mouth off & bask in the glory he he he.

Hi Rick

Any more news on Muzzy and LAE's involvement, will the Shootout format change, maybe a true competition meet with classes rather than the TNT format or have they just secured naming rights?
