well went 2 the first crusty show here in brisbane last night and those fuckers are off the chart..... train of back flips 10 or 12 poeple in a row or when they did 5 on three jumps and that is before they did the back flip combos ..... superman backflip..... 3 combo ,can can into heal clicker to a no hander lander backflip and the list goes on. some of it is a bit commercial and a bit of a wank but fuck me the bike action is shit hot ....how far has freestyle come in 10 yrs or even 2 for that matter..... mybe 1 day we will go 2 something like this for stunting who knows .........

to me they are getting a bit long in the tooth, i was crusty mad back in the mid ninties when they hit the scene, buts it kinda just bores me now. there really isnt much more places for it to go. they are about at the limit of what can be physically done.

i agree chop but those combo backflips still get 2 you... i started in the early ninties or when ever the 1st vid came out and back then i thought they couldnt go any more out there , then the back flip and shit that had 2 be the end but it wasnt. i think what happened is it was a underground thing like stunting, streetfighters and things like drifting, where u had 2 be part of the seen so 2 speak 2 even know it was there. then it gained popularity and every one is into it and your left looking for the next thing no 1 knows about apart for the hardcore people like yourself....... it happened with tattoo's, skatebording etc shit it happened when i was in the car sound thing in the mid ninties. now every cockhead with a sub thinks they shit hot but knows fuck all about where it came from or the culture, and worse yet fuck all people putting it in have more then basic knowledge monkey see monkey do. in the beginning ( and i only came in mid way of that part) you what 2 read, research, experinent and talk 2 people around the world 2 find out how 2 do what you wanted . it taught you the fundanentals and brought you into the culture with like minded people pushing the envelope. dont get me wrong now the tec and price is unbelievable and what the top people can achive is off the chart but its just dosent feel the same.... i hate 2 say it, but its posable 2 happen 2 the streetfighter seen , its not a bad thing but it might just lose its eadge in exchange for legitimacy ....... time will tell lol now 2 put my soap box away and look at some shit hot bikes lol long live the underground......

i hear what yer sayin ozzy and to a certain extent your right [otherwise we wouldnt have the big four chuckin out retro factory fighters ]it happened with the chop scene too but its survived
its not altogether a bad thing tho it supports people like ben who earn their drinkin tokens out of it and stu who sells the shit...its enevitable
but look at it this way...imagine an AFR the size of the Bulldog Bash and we ve been in at the start we shouldnt alienate ourselves too much

On the subject, obviously this is a growing thing (customizing and modifying bikes in general) Just look at the popularity of shows like American Chopper .. and also look at the fact there are more and more Naked bikes hitting the market like the B-King and the Z-1000. I guess you will have people buying those and calling them streetfighters in the future without a single mod. There are already some people around that consider if it has fairings it cant be a fighter .. but I was under the impression that fightering a bike was mostly about modifying and customizing .. From what I have read a fighter can be a Sleeper, a Naked Sports Bike with Mods or other combinations. Is that an extension of what the original fighter is ??
It seems to me to be more holistic. . ie music, attitude, self made modifications (or with some help when you are a total newbie like me) Things like the April Fools Run. A lifestyle thing .. like it was for Bikies on Harleys and Choppers before it became more of a grey haired weekend nomad thing.
Maybe I am being too analytical .. but its interesting all the same 8)

id say theres less of a division in the uk between the chop guys and the fighter types but maybe thats because the original mag was born from a chop mag i dunno..i have a lot of time for anyone who self builds or at least comes up with the design and idea behind his bike whatever style it is whether they just buy the parts or have em made doesnt matter its what u do with them that counts ..but just buying a stocker and callin it individual is kinda foolish just my opinion

i still love watchy my old terafirma freeriding vids. Ive been to a few shows and its crazy but i like watching natural terrain stuff.

Its crazy that they do back flips on snow mobiles and 4wheelers also. I saw a guy on tv trying to do a double backflip on a stand up ski. I still remember one of those vids , steel roots maybe, where one guy did a back flip into water on a home build ramp, that fell over when he went off it.
