Can someone explain this in basic terms ?
I have put a cable tie on the fork leg (when up in the air) and there is 20mm travel when the bikes weight is on it. Add me and this becomes about 40mm.
Haven't done the back yet.
What should I be aiming for ???

The first "static sag"should be 30mm-40mm.The second is ride hieght 70mm-90mm.Now if you wonta responsive bike use the shorter measuments[8D]

it all depends on how you like the bike to feel. I run minimal sag up front and rear with no static sag. I like the feel of it that way. Then again my bike has a flexy frame:)but i have front end bias.

It all depends on bike, your weight vs the spring(assuming you have the right spring rate for your size). If your springs are too soft you might feel better with less sag or the other way around. Most race bikes are in the 20-30mm range and street bikes 30-35mm range.

So now I'm confused even more...[V]
Is the 'static sag' the difference between weight off the forks and the bikes weight on them ?
What about the rear end ? I can still fit the centre stand so I'm guessing its going to be the same ? Wheel in the air on stand v bikes weight off stand ?
Just dropped the f/legs 10mm as reccommended by the XJR owners club website and it makes a good difference...much more flickable....
