Who's going this year?

totaldamage
30-04-2006, 06:33 PM
I'll be going but anything can happen between now and then

30-04-2006, 06:38 PM
I'm thinking of hiring a Hiace Commuter bus and driving down(fuck doin 5000k's in 7 days on my bike).Havnt done any homework on figures yet but should work out pretty cheap between 14 punters + ya can drink piss all the way if ya not the nominated driver. If any1's keen, speek up and i'll get the ball rolling.;)

I never thought of you as the deep thought type Davo.

TTTT I'm fuxing impressed. The last three years I've supplied the car and done most of the driving. You doing pickups in Sydney? Where you thinking of staying?

Cowes caravan park is only a short walk up the beach into town.:)

:D

30-04-2006, 07:21 PM
i'll do pickups anywhere on the way mate, just gota fill a 14 seater.havnt made any accom enquiries yet,but sounds like you got a few idea's being a seasoned campaigner.will wait till a few more punters speek up before wasting my time.

I'm riding down this year with Terry and a couple of other guys. First offer I got so I took it. We have accomodation booked but I have no idea where except it's near a pub.

TurboKat
01-05-2006, 12:24 AM
I can highly recommend the Trackside Campground for accommodation, just like a BIG rally vibe (burnouts aplenty, Stones bombs, fireworks, donuts, pissed nude blokes doin laps/skids/fallin off, rock/blues bands, slab sales, food vans, firewood sales, slack security & a special for this year, a mini replica racetrack right in the middle!, rides, clowns, face painting for the kids & much, much more - what more could you ask for? ........ Oh, yeah......chicks I s'pose - bit light on for them [V])
I used to stay in Cowes for years until the Fun Nazis stepped on all the good bits, best of both worlds is camping trackside & scoot into Cowes on Fri & Sat nights, get a feed, go to the pub for a few, see what's happening (bit quiet these days) hang around a bit if it looks promising and/or head back to the track the back way, (Shano & I know all the side streets & back roads from years of experience dodging Coppers half pissed) there's always somethin goin on in the campground, even at 3am.
Foxy's Hawaiian shirt crew are good for a laugh, complete with inflatable palm trees deckchairs & even their own beach! motorised tents cruising around, blokes with pool tables & swimming pools in their campsites, you name it.
Only bikes & tents are allowed into the Trackside but for campervans (& Gibbo's 60 ft luxury Winnebago) you camp in the Highside campground which is only a 2 min stagger away (if you don't fall in the big ditch)
Motels & caravan parks are for poofs. [:0]:(

LOL, :D
That was the most amazing "crash" I've ever seen, the whole race was an edge of the seat job.
That circuit in Turkey seems to be a good equaliser, lots of close racing in all the classes.

Foxy

Me and my Hawaiian shirt will be there as usual.

Any interstaters that need a roof over there head before Thursday, I'll be happy to oblige.

Speaking of crashes.....let's see if we can take out another 916!!!!!

Oh yeah, there'll be more that just a moving tent this year too, but it's top secret, not even I know what it is.

A flag would be good for the World Superbikes at the Island 'coz you can ride your bikes into the circuit [8D], I make it a habit of flying an Aussie flag off my bike every year, there's room for an ASF one as well [^], although where to stick the flagpole on a Streetfighter?

Davo & mundy may be taking the long way down the coast stopping at various villages on the way, looks like we`ll be taking a camper van.So wot i`m thinking is to deck said vehicle out with ASF decals on the pilgramige.
The locals may be educated on the journey as to our plight.

i am definatley going.
when i heard that motogp is dropping to 800cc (next year) i asked around & decided that if this is the last time ill get to see live, loud, full blown motogp bikes, then i am there.

i lucked out & booked a house for accomodation!!!
2 mins from the pub & 1 min from the beach right in the heart of town.

there are 8 beds that unfortunatley are all taken -
BUT, not all have been paid for!

if any spots come up, ill post 'em here to see if some fellow asf members want in.

the only thing left now is to decide on which grand-stand to park my fat arse in...;)

TurboKat
15-06-2006, 07:18 PM
From experience TJ, the best grandstand is at Siberia corner, you can see approx. 3/4 of the track from there & even better if you get a seat up the top (at the back of the stand)
FWIW only snobs have grandstand seats, you'll miss out on all the fun & games with the REAL race fans. [^]
I'll be up bright & early Sundy morning to do the <s>stagger</s> walk from the campground to our favourite spot on the hill to stake out our claim, Deano & Foxy will confirm that it's the best spot to watch from. [8D]
How are our ASF flags coming along Gix?? ;)

Gix11
21-06-2006, 03:09 PM
Ok. This is a bit groovy. Apparently the standard size flag is a 2yard flag (1800x900). For that you wanna be really keen as I got quoted $330 just for set up costs and then $308 on top of that for 1 flag, $253 for 2 and then $239 for 3-9 flags! Even as a joint effort, that's pretty mental. Anyone know of any other suppliers or suggestions?

I'll be booking my spot tomorrow morning & I'll ask how many spots are left & let yuz know asap.
My advice for anyone wanting to camp in the REAL campground is book now to avoid having to stay in the 2nd rate Highside campground with the likes of Gibbo & his 80' luxury Winnebago ;)
