View Full Version : Clutch swap
Guys,
I just got my hot little hands on a complete '91 gixxer. I'm wondering if the clutch from the 750 motor is the same as one from an '88 1054, if it is, then I'm swapping the clutches, and motors, and 7/11 here I come.
any help appreciated.[^]

Well,
I went to alpha sports.com, and compared the two, and they do not talk. What I'm really trying to do is find a replacement for my dodgy slabby outer clutch basket, which has loosish rivets, and tired springs, resulting in a grabby, jerky kind of takeoff. The inner basket is worn, but I have removed most of the ridges from it, and as a result the clutch is bearable now, but I cannot slip/launch at any revs, or the clutch grabs, and it either stalls, or pops the front wheel, depending on how my luck is running that day!
Does anyone have an 1100 slabby clutch outer basket, or even the whole deal, or can point me in the right direction to get the basket reconned?
Gixxerpilot, that was good info, but around the wrong way, in my case!! Thanx anyway

City motorcycle Spares, Slacks Creek, had a whole clutch , sitting waiting for me:).They're sending it up COD to darwin.
Quick service, and a fair price [$150]I can swap out the clutch basket now, and drop my slabby J1108 into the L 750, and after two years of pissing around, I'll have a 7/11, all for me:D
