Today I talked to the guy who's going to rebuild my GSXR11 oil cooled engine. We decided that with a 1216 kit, dialling in the cams, some porting and sorting the carbs, it should do what I want.
Which is make lots more midrange and a fair whack more top end. But it made me wonder about the amount of horsepower in comparison with the latest hot poop bikes.
I know much better than to believe anything that comes in a brochure or on a manufacturer website. So is there a site that has actual RWHP dyno numbers for a range of bikes ? Of course, there's more to life than dyno numbers but it occured to me that something like that would be a good yard stick to judge exactly how big my excuses need to be for getting a whuppin from Mr Shiny Leathers on his ZX2RRRR.

Damn you Mr Shiny Leathers, damn you to hell !

Rocket, i got a gsxr1000 k3 and its power graph is just a little better than that producing 158hp at the rear wheel it had an k&n filter, tre and can on it.
unfortuantly i didn't get the chance to dyno it while it was still standard, at the time it was 400kms to the nearist dyno and a realy nice set of twistys between me and the dyno, just couldnt seem to make it past the Gillies range

Mines an 87 gsxr 1100 engine with bigger (38mm) carbs from a 91 750 and pod filters, and it's dyno'd at 130.1 rwhp.

Thanks guys, the rebuilder said I could expect around 140hp which sounds good to me.
I'm more keen to find torque than anything, my old Bandit 12 (ahhhh I've gone all misty eyed)was a real stomper but a little weak at the top end. The rebuilder tells me that with the big bore, I should gain a fair amount of grunt just using the stock GSXR11 cams and sorting the carbs.
We'll see I guess.

WAS.
Bandit 12, with "R" bits, pipe and a sniff of NOS... 168rwhp.
NOW.
Hayabusa, Yoshi cans, TRE... 159.5rwhp.

I think Ozkat had a pretty healthy GSXR on the Dyno a while back
but I cant remember the spec or numbers for it...
