I can remeber like it was yesterday, the first time a mate pulled up on his 83/1100, I took it for a spin on the freeway in Perth and shat my pants LOL ;)

Id still rate it as the bike I most want to own but never have.

Good Kat info here

Yeah Im definately gonna own one. I have promised myself it will be one of the next bikes I buy. I still have my heart set on a K1 or K2 gixxer 1000 fighter and that gets priority. But I see the Kat as a side project. Id like to get a 83-85 model and just bring it back to showroom except with as much done to the motor as possible without doing a kit. So porting, jetting, exhaust etc, but leave the body as close to stock looking as I can. *dream dream dream*

I've always ways been quite fond of the 84 750 kat, I think it's because of the single shock rear and the pop up light. I rode one a couple of years ago and was abit dissapointed as it was no quicker than my GS500. I'll probably still get one, one day and I'll squeeze an 1100 into it.

I always keep an eye out for a cheap one to play with, but I have to get rid of one of my bikes before I start a new one. So I guess I'll have to wait.

Had mine for 12 years.
longest i have ever owned any bike ( out of 30+ bikes )
If I had known more about bikes/fighters/etc in OZ I
would have bought it with me. Just thought at the time
with new Country / Job / House etc life would be easyier
without the hassle. Mistake :(

If I found a Mint '83 SD model i think it
would be hard to pass it by.

Don't think i would own one (got to many other toys to play with ) but definatly a nice looking classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe one day, and i wouldn't say no if one just turned up in my driveway.

JMC arm,
Katana bodywork,

Bit like this Turbo/NOS/1460cc/Spondon but with a shorter arm.

I had my eye on the 750 Fimp posted from bikepoint. It's cheap enough to be a good project starter.

I've still got mine wired wheeled job, bought it late 84 and I even threw my leg over last night when I moved stuff. Hasn't been started in a few years but looking at fixing it up very shortly.
Apparently new body work is still available.
I just need to find the original crankcases to start and a donor motor. I put another engine in it when I was drag racing so I didn't trash the cases. "Sir, you have an electrical problem, a conrod through the starter motor" said the mechanic.
Your right, the carbies are smooth bores in the pic and Mikuni CV's came on the original.
As for the article, "The bike reacts instantly to the slightest pressure on the clip ons", my memory seems to be, wrestle it into the corner and wait for the frame to flex 1/3 in and then power on..................
