The video that comes from is insane... The guy is doing wheelies etc in the snow at amazing speeds.

My cousins back home used to Ice Race. Originally bikes(Kjell still has a rare factory Ducati Pantah ice racer)but later quads. My cousin Per Olaf put a GSXR1100 engined quad through the ice near Stavanger and had to wait 6 months before they could fish it out after it sank in 30 metres of water. They are all thankfully retired for ice racing and have mostly taken up the "safe" sport of Norwegian Rugby Union......On the occasional holidays they'd have over here they bought home movies of their races. It has to be the madddest shit you'll ever see especially when they crash into each other.

dumb q. number 1. whats the cagey type fing on the front of the gixer?
I suppose if you're a bike freak, and its iced in for 3/4 of the year, you find
a way to work around it.

That's basically to stop the wheel mincing whatever gets in front of it, i.e. the rider himself when he comes off, or the rider in front who came off his bike, or maybe even the Eskimo who's fishing from a little hole on the track.......

I spent bloody ages trying to read that URL on the side of the bike. Eventually worked it out and went to the new improved website. Check out the angle they are leaning the bikes over on the ice! ....and check the burnouts? http://www.iceroadracing.net/

The gallery doesn't work but the video clips do. Check 'em! Nutters...

Despite all the "safety" precautions when they stack it they get shreaded. Those tyre spikes leave impressive scars . Per Olaf has a nickname that in English tranlates as Leopold Boy as his entire body is covered in scar "spots" and "stripes" were the tyres have spun on him. When he was out here a while ago we went swimming and he was stared at more that the topless girls. Impressive to say the least and pretty damn stupid too....
