Okay.

Whats the best bike for a streetfighter project, that also must be LAMS compliant ?

My first idea was a Ducati 600 Monster.

Serious suggestions appericated.

Wadda fuck is a LAMS? (no I don't want to know about your rural girlfriends!)

And a 600 Monster would make a great first 'Fighter' project, if that's to your liking and pocket.

If you want ideas order the 'Street Fighter' (an English magazine) from your local newsagent.

PS top wind up, just don't do it again if you are serious about becoming a member. Even I've had to 'quieten down' since my arrival (well kinda :).

lams= learner approved motorcycle scheme. its in nsw at the moment. its a scheme that gives learners the with no experience whatsoever a better chance of killing themselves than they do already.

What qualifies as a "learner approved motorcycle scheme" bike? Is it based on KW/HP? Or is it anybike with a restrictor added? They had something like this in England years ago if I remember rightly. You could choke the fuck out of a CBR900 Fireblade so it did fuck all and then you could get it tested and ride it on learner plates. Of course, all everybody did was get it tested, take it home and rip the restrictor out and then head for the nearest ditch and total it. You can't under estimate riding experience. If it's a first bike I'd be going for a Ratt bike like I had. Get and old school bike with a bit of grunt (I had a Kwaka Z650) and strip it right down, then spray it matt black. If you learning curve goes ugly you just pull out the dent and respray your matt black again. The perfect "attitude" learner bike.

Yeah it's a power to weight ratio thing, 150kW per tonne or something. You can get Monster 620s in LAM format, also Hyosung 650s. They restrict them by putting shit in the carbies, which I'm sure is very easy to take out, but it's a matter of getting the right bits (easily picked up from a wreckers). You get proper fucked if you get caught tho! Other bikes that you can get are Kwaka ER-500s and Suzuki GS-500s. Pretty damn sure ER-5s share the same engine with KLR/KLE-500s which I THINK are a lot like half a ZZR-1100 engine. So swapping pistons and possibly barrels should be too much of a problem.

Hyosung 650s aren't too bad, but you'd be like a ricer in a full sik Hyundai Excel (both Korean) which granted they get from point A to point B but unless you spent all your time with the front or back wheel in the air or your knee on the deck, you ain't going to get a lot of respect (if you care about that kinda stuff)

My 2 cents...

Hey Andy,

I am currently doing up a 2000 model Ducati Monseter 600 (My 1st road bike) My 1st mods atm are short stem indicators. Just watch out mate cause the Dukes are expensive as to serivce,

Lists of serivce is basically,

Check Valve clearances every 10 000k's
Check Belts every 10 000k's
Change oil, Oil Filter, Fuel Filter 5000 k'
Carby tune every 5000k's
Rear Brakes every 7000k's
Front brakes every 5000ks depends how much you use either

Thats the basics of a tune rule.
let this stuff go and it'll fuk up and cost ya HEAPS
Just had mine serviced and stuff replaces as supposed and its running HEAPS better.

They Look and sound awesome as, ust treat her well, Oh and dont even think about doing wheelies or should i say good luck doing tricks like that, they are very underpowered as in power to central weight, all da weight is up front

I know a guy who has decked his VFR8 a couple of times, and the shop gives him an ER500 as a curtesy bike.

He bitches about it constantly, but it must have 'some' power for a 500, cos this git weighs 180 Kilo's, more than the bike itself. And it keeps up with expressway traffic easily.

Does look funny though, talk about built in panniers.

I'm glad you've joined us mate, so don't feel put off, just remember this isn't a namby pamby sports bike site and that neither are the guys, and before long you'll realise why your first line was so offensive. Until then - it's all cool. OK? (I'm really bored of this already........)

GS500, CB400 seem to be the sensible options.

On a side note. How good do the late 80's GSXR's look, the Streetfighter look really seems to suit them well.

Speeding is bullshit. Your comfortable with the way that the police force is being used to collect revenue ?

The end result of a speeding crash aside. Whats going to be more dagerous to another road user ? A car doing +10-15kph in a 60 zone or a car thats going to merge, turn corners, u-turn without a blinkers ?

Our cars, bikes and "some" of our roads are designed for at least 20kph more then the posted signs, yet the powers that be will still stake our these area's in an attempt to capture more revenue.

Eg. The M4 going to Penrith, about 2 or 3 exits before the Eastern Creek turn off there is a 100 zone which drops down to a 90 zone and then goes back up to a 100 zone, the 90 zone is guarded with a fixed speed camera....why ? to catch people traveling at 110 (the acceptable 10kph over)..And 20kph over in the 90 zone.....

Whilst, I don't envy the job of the police. I think their time could be better spent then trying to catch the speeders at 10-15kph over the speed limit.

I personally think the tool no using a blinker, or the bloke driving home drunk, or the person who just can't driver/ride is a far greater danger then someone who speeds a little.

My solution to the whole anti-social road thing at the moment is...
1. Open Eastern Creek 24hours a day.
2. Make the Old Pacific Road one way and install run off areas on each corner
3. Do the same with the National Park down to Wollongong.

Well thats a dream.....I suppose my Honda Lead wouldn't go too well stock standard around any of those roads any how...

I don't drink coffee sorry. I find it rather...ummmm...boring.

hello !!!! the police only get the revenue if you are speeding. or breaking any other law. what are you fucking stupid? its only the ones who break the law who complain about it.if you dont break any laws then you dont have any thing to worry about do you? maybe you should try driving trucks interstate where the rta fines you for spelling the name of a town wrong or if your logbook is untidy then you would have something to whinge about. that andymac is revenue raising. how does spelling a name wrong endanger other road users lives? huh huh . if you you get caught speeding or doing a wheelie or overtaking on double white lines it is because you are either stupid or braindead. and you are the one endangering other peoples lives. you dont hear puppet, myself or mundy , or any of the other mature law abiding citizens on this site complaining about it. so get your propaganda site and fuck off you hoon.

I'm fucking stupid to being baited into another e-fight, thats for sure.
So, you've gone from speeding to incorrectly spelling a name wrong on a log book. Well... I suppose I can't draw any comparisions to accidently spelling a name wrong because you where paying attention to the road instead of the "Welcome to (insert town name here)" sign...AND THEN getting fined for it... Might be a little similar to paying attention to the road and traveling 10k's quicker then the posted speed limit.
I hate to think of the amount of people you've stereotyped on this site alone that are now brain dead because they 1. Speed (in any manner) or 2. Break the odd road rule to suit themselves...eg. overtaking on a double line (which i agree is stupid).
The site listed in my signature is merely there to expose the fact that speeding is not the end all road safety solution it is marketed to be by the states gumbyments (enforced by the police).
The matter of my opinion is I'd like to see far more emphasis on other road rules then speeding, as I pointed out before. Blinkers, people sitting in the right hand lane and not overtaking, illegal u-turns, mobile phone use in a car, etc etc etc, all go pretty much unseen by the people enforcing the law....
Yet, I'll probably see an officer at the end of tunnel, on a straight piece of road trying to catch people speeding 10-20 kays over the limit, on a freeway, with 3 or 4 cars around..... Becuase their a danger on the roads.....Mind you, the officer will be there for 30mins....So there must be some serious accidents on said described piece of road the other 23hours and 30mins on the same piece of road.......
Anyway......This is getting very boring, you've got the wrong opinion about me. I'm more interested in getting into bikes and getting on the road, then trying to prove to you I'm worthy of being on here.

I'm more interested in getting into bikes and getting on the road, then trying to prove to you I'm worthy of being on here.

fact is speeding fines are worth more money. fact is is everyone thinks like you that speeding just 10-15 kms over the limit is okthen i guess thats why they concentrate on the speeding so much. if nobody was speeding my guess is they would concentrate on the other stuff much more.so as i said if you dont break the law they wont be pulling you up. and you dont think that 10-15 kms difference on impact will make any difference. youre only young arent you.

I'm 30 for the record.

Have I come accross a serious accident involving speed ? Nope, and I hope I never have too either.

I have my opinions and you have yours respectfully.
