What sort of luck have you guys had with ebay. I won a rear shock on US ebay about 8 weeks ago, was promised 3 weeks delivery via usps and am still waiting for it.:( The guy tell me that usps don't have tracking numbers for international parcels.
Australia Post also tell me that parcels out of usa are very unreliable and not to be surprised if it never turns up:(
what freight companies have you guys had success with?
Any advice would be great as I intend to use ebay some more but don't want to get screwed over.
thanks

ah yes purchasing through ebay overseas can be risky, all you can do is queerie it with the seller and if it don`t show up in reasonable time tell them that you will take it up with ebay, that usually gets em going.i recently got shonked for a nos tail light lense and it was from oz.won it for $4.90 so the prick sent me a damaged one cause of the price,i gave him negative feedback then sends me an abusive email which i also forwarded onto ebay.lets just say he dosn`t do as well anymore.

The guy said that he sent it the next day and usps quoted 3 weeks del.
looked at his feedback and he had sold heaps of bike stuff and had a 98% feedback.

funny story number one:
bought a yzf model from the states, never turned up. guy sent another after a few weeks of waiting. It arrived. fine.
months and months later, like almost a year, a much larger scale model of some old boxer beemer arrived, with a letter from us customs saying this was the model bike that had been lost. laugh, we shat ourselves.
you can make bad feedback for the seller, that is really not good for them. i would email and perhaps mention that, see what response you get, they should really send registered, insured etc.
good luck!

I've had a set of upside down forks from the state that took 2 months and an R1 seat also from the states that took 3 weeks. Both guys were keen to email me and check up when I got it and even chased it from their end (with the forks) to make sure it would arrive on time. All been good for me. I always recommend checking the feedback before even considering and make sure you get a quick reply from an email before you bid as that usually means they are on the ball with computers. Had one bird down in NSW who checked her emails once a month and one of those she was on holiday for. Learnt my lesson with that one.
i've had a few birds down in N.S.W that were useless once a month. Bloody things they r.:D

There are a few things you can do to ensure you get the item or at least get your money back.
1. ALWAYS use a transaction service like PayPal or similar. ( they have a built in insurance which will get your money back if you do not recieve the item if its over $50us in value)
2. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS insist on express airmail on smaller items eg: under 10 kg. its actually cheaper than most people think . i paid $19 express airmail for my 2003 GSXR rear shock from the US and it arrived in less than 10 days.
3. ALWAYS keep in touch with the seller. ask for conformation of recieving payment, ask for conformation of date it was shipped. ask for what company is shipping. Fedex, USPS etc.
4. NEVER pay directly to a seller by credit card, cheque, or cash.
5. the problem with getting things sent via ship is that it can take up to 4 mths to get here and if it goes missing or wasnt sent you have already lost 3-4 mths and very little chance of getting it at all.
you can also arrange a company like Fedex etc to pick the item up it costs a little more but well worth it. the best thing about ebay is the feedback left. you can check up on past sales... but the best thing is if your interested in something 99% of the time it came from ebay originally. trace it back to the original seller then contact him/her.they will most likley have more of the same item for sale and you will proberly get it at a fraction of the price.

I think I will send this joker an email and see what he is prepared to do for me.
Oz - I got a 02 gsxr 1000 shock for 13.50us but got stung 35us for the shipping - sounds like i got stiched with the shipping compared to your deal
How did you find the handling of the bike after you fitted the shock?

He never found out as he sold the bike to me as an unfinished project. And as I have two to work on it still hasn't been finished or tried yet. How did it effect your bike?
E-bay can be a rough experience, i prefer K-why.[:X]

well i reckon ebay rocks but i only buy in oz.great for gettin rid of stuff too.this weeks tradingpost has a gixer 11 for $2300 unreg.got fairing damage which is ok as i would chuck it anyway.he`s advertised it for 2 weeks now so i gave him a call to see if we could come to an arrangement by part swap and cash but he seems like he needs the dough for a get out of jail card.

Gix - cant tell you yet mate as I am still waiting for it to come from the states. i spoke to a local bike suspension dude before purchasing as I wasn't sure if 600.750 or 1000 shock would best suit.
He did some basic calcs based on bike weight, bike type and my weight (90kg with riding gear) and he suggested about an 8.3kg spring and he said that the gsxr 1000 had a 8.5kg spring from standard therefore it should be about perfect.

I'd be looking to the US to get that seat mate. The excahnge rate is less than the English Pound at the moment so you'll probably get it cheaper. Use this to work out the current exchange rates: http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic
