hey Oz u air cooled or water??

my brother sells JE pistons Oz,i'll ring him tommorow. 3 stacked head gaskets should achieve a simillar effect.how much psi are you gunna run?

ozkat
13-05-2005, 08:52 PM
davo, stackin head gaskets is not a good idea. next best to low comp pistons is a 2mm base plate. ill only run up to maybe 7psi till i get the forged pistons. then maybe only up to 17psi. any higher than that and ill go stronger rods. lockup clutch goes without saying. davo, if your talking to your bro let him know i want forged and a comp ratio of around 8.5:1 or 9:1.

13-05-2005, 09:05 PM
no worries mate, pretty sure JE only do forged but i'll let him confirm that.i'll ring ya to confirm bore/stroke an all that jazz after i speak to him.17 PSI??? hold onto ya hats folks.[:0]

there are some blokes in the US and Uk running 30psi+ and getting over 500RWHP and thats on a oilcooled gsxr or a aircooled gsx. not much of the original suzuki engine left tho. lotsa blokes running around 300RWHP on standard engines with stronger pistons, rods, and clutch.

13-05-2005, 09:50 PM
300 hp sounds scary enough mate.otherwise you'll need to bring 3 spare tyres on the next April tools run.Speakin of tyres, sum joint up ere,(carsrus.com.au) is sellin Avon Azzaro AV40 supersports to suit our bikes 4 $140 new(even cheaper on ebay).thats a fuckin good tyre 4 a fuggin good price.my bro gets em straight off the ship wholesale an even he cant match that.i ran these tyres 4 a while but was shreddin them 2 quick(600k's).now i run pilots(rear only) but dont trust em as much.

I want to share a story bout my first time!.......ZXR750 Turbo....Couldn't get it to boost ova 3psi,was running a bit better than stock, but nothing special...back to the shed to check it all again...Whats this, a slightly loose hose clamp on the plenum.Out again maybe it'll go better now, wasn't expecting much....Hammered it...HOLY SHIT!!!(my actual words).I almost wore the tank in my face.Quick back to the shed, this time to call all me mates..you gotta see what I built!!!(Smiling like a kid at chrissie).Back out again to pinch myself.1st Gear Absurd!! 2nd Violent, 3rd leaning forward & It still comes up.750cc Remember! The dyno shows 175at the back(I hear scoffs in the assembled crowd...mumblemumble..big deal....New gixxer thou......178hp...mumble.....)But does it have 150rwhp at just 6500....mmm..ttturbo...TORQUE.Once you've had BOOST you'll never accept anything else!
Cheers

Ben, yep first turbo bike. no need for a puter cause im running carbs not efi. got a mate up here who turboed his gsxr and im sure between the 2 of us we can get it somewhere near ridable till i get it on a dyno to fine tune it. it will take a fair bit of time and lots of swearing, im sure of that.

14-05-2005, 09:18 AM
ok Oz,just spoke to my bro au unfortunately he has no listing 4 bike pistons in his cattledogs (coz he is a car guru)but he gave me the ph no. of the importer "Performance Wholesale" 07 3808 1986 they be your neighbours. yes they sell to the public but may not have them in stock.2-3 weeks wait and if they dont have what your after they will custom make them.start saving mate.;)
he also adds that 17psi will be near unrideable unless ya got wheelie bars or sic of livin[}:)]are you draggin this 1 mate or is she gunna be a streeter?

thanks davo, ill ring them on monday. 17psi was just an example of what the 1127 can handle with minimal mods. there is no way id ever be able to use 17psi on the street maybe between 3 and 10psi. if i can get 220rwhp for the street on a relativley low boost ill be more than happy.and around 300 for the strip.

getting a bit ahead of myself here. maybe when its all fitted and carb mods made ill see if it actually starts.

OZ carbs & boost go together like oil & water ( From my experience).I hope you prove me wrong though.( and share your secrets with us all ).I had my carbs apart about 60 times changing everything ( jets, needles, springs ) and on the ZXR thats tank off, plenum off carbs off then all back together again,I had it down to a fine art by the end though.( I also was having nightmares about pulling carbs apart).A couple of tips standard cams work best as turbos don't like valve overlap & retard the ignition a few degrees at least (electronic method is best) but even static retard is better than nothing ( not as good off boost though). Finally I highly recommend an intercooler, but If your not running one keep the boost below 10psi.I was running 16-17psi and on a 28deg day the temp before my intercooler was 60-70 degC ( detonation city) & after the cooler it never got over 30 degrees. Jap importers of car engines have a huge range of shapes & sizes, I got mine for $150 (A very worthwhile investment).
Cheers
