This is my SV 1000 03 model i picked it up as a wreck and have fitted
06 GSXR 1000 wheels
94 ZX7R forks (have to make tripple clamps)
my own custom exhaust cans
and i have to sort out a taillight for the KZ650 tail section i had to cut up the old subframe as it was bent everywhere and i had to weld the frame of the bike up where the subframe bolts on cause it broke when it was crashed, the bike only has 17000km runs sweet

Ah yes. The classic old Z650 tail reveals it's head again. You can't go wrong with those tail units mate. Looks like a good project. Have you got any side profile shots yet?

yeah the z650 tail was and still is sweet!!

thats the best i could do for a side shot at the moment (small shed)
might have to raise the pipes a bit now though, something doesn't look right

i also have a 666 fron gaurd, twin billet lights and a GP dash with tacko,LCD speedo and shift light comming. also have to fit "tre" to ignition it doesn't get full advance till 4th gear.

G'day Dylan - good looking project indeed. Hard to tell without the front end in place, but it looks like the seat / tail might need to be angled up a bit more (??). The last shot makes it look like the seat almost slopes down towards the tail. Just my 2c.....Welcome aboard

Yep, that's why I asked for the side profile. The "something doesn't look right" factor is the angle of the tail piece mate. You need to lengthen that botom rail on the subframe to swing the back end up. Yea, you'll have to mod the seat but that's Streetfighters for ya. The top of the ducktail should be at the same angle as the ridge above the word SUZUKI on the tank.

Yeah lift the pipes up to thesame angle as the seat unit thatll fix it i recon.

this is the third streetfighter i have had and one thing that i remember from my other 2 was that with upright seating position the seat is always to far down at the front. the forks are 15mm shorter than stock, from what i can see the bike as it sits now will be round 30mm lower at the front as i have it on chocks so i will have to weight till i get the forks on it and take it for a ride. then bugger around with asthetics & ergonomics, cheers for the feedback!!:) one other thing i'm not real fan of the european styled streetfighters with the kicked up arse, and belive it or not i still have a very thin foam pad to put on that tail, once painted, for the better half!

NOTE: the belly pan should run downhill or flat when the forks are fitted.

youve got the plan dylan, dont worry about anything cosmetic til its sitting on wheels. I hope your better half is small or atleast has short legs with those pillion pegs that close to the seat, atleast she wont want to ride on it after that:)

mate a zxr 250 taillight is exact right shape for under that ductail and has a number plate light built in as well.

That seat unit looks the nuts on there dude. I kinda like the fact that it runs lower than the tank line ;)its got that Vmax vibe about it.I reckon a set of drag bars will finish that off a treat. The cans need to be at the same angle as the seat unit too

thanks for ideas, i will investigate the tailights that was going to be a hard one!

the TRE i will make as i think the parts are only going to cost a few bucks i got the diagram for it here somewhere and i would like to have a switch for it as the front wheel is sure to be a bit uncontrolable in some conditions, like a pillion. the otherhalf isn't a huge concern when building bikes so she will just have to put up with lack of seat space

yeah i'm almost going for the engine with a seat and wheels look. minimal bike lots of noise and power, bit cruisie, not to race but i want the comfort for the longer rides my favourite ride is lake leak a 3 hour round trip the clipons kill the back and wrists this is like a road trail on roids comfort and power i hope

Dylan. That seat unit needs to come up a tad, not saying up there with the germans but thats flacid mate!! My dad can manage more of a rise than that! Stick with the z though. It dont need alot just say 4ins? With the suzi lettering. duc monster light fits nice with the z butt.

I really am crap at this whole foto chop thing, but even what i know really helps when it comes to sorting a look for the bike.. 20min was spent coming up with the concept on my gsx750f. a further 30min on the sv.. pays to try and learn it. anyhoo enough drivel, i took the liberty of fiddling with one of your photo's,

the clamps are made from 24mm aluminium plate. i marked the clamp out and cut it out with a bandsaw then drilled a clearance hole for for the boring bar. after all the machining was done i filed the edges to remove the marks from the bandsaw and will pollish them after i take it for a test ride.

pretty cool dylan, how did you decide on your fork offset? did you mock them up after stock or figure out what trail number you wanted.

i just measured the stock clamp and used that offset, the forks are a fraction shorter but i think it will be allright it might change the handling a bit
