I have been working on this over the winter break and I am almost done with her and thought I might share. Not as extreme as some but still a fun build. Has a F2 tank and a chopped up rear sup-frame to except a Ducati Monster seat.

But I did take some time and pieced it together over the weekend. Here are some pics.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e12/rklutts/hawk_rear_rt.jpg

The pipe is off cause I have not removed the center stand and mounted. Right now just fitted. I am thinking I might also cut a couple inches off the header pipe so the M4 sits back a further since I shorten the rear.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e12/rklutts/rear.jpg

Still have a few wires to finish up behind the light and then bundle them all in a tube.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e12/rklutts/front.jpg

Close up of the rear lights.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e12/rklutts/tail_brake.jpg

The bracket I made to hold the light. (needs paint hence the rust)

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e12/rklutts/tail_bracket.jpg

Side shot. Still need to figure out the rear brake res position or go to the simple tube set up.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e12/rklutts/hawk_side-1.jpg

I should be getting my rear shock today so I can get that on it. Then I will finish up the brakes and run the fuel lines.

I need it to warm up this week too so I can get the tank painted. It needs to be 70-75 for the paint to flash right. Right now it's in the 30's for the high but later this week it's gonna maybe get 50's or 60's.

Welcome aboard mate.

Tidy, I think it looks really tough in profile. Keeping it simple can really give good results...

What an awesome bike!
I never heard of one before this, is it based on the rc30 frame?
Can I get one in Aus?

Is that a 650cc sports version of the Honda Magna mate? We didn't get that model down under, so you've got something unique on the site.

Looks like the Revere - but that was a shafty (now the Deauville). Hmmm - a unique one indeed....

Oh yeah - welcome aboard Rob.

Thanks guys! This was a bike that was built and ship state side from 88-91- mine is a 88. The SSSA was stock, the frame is a ELF design and was built to race. As for the street USA got 647cc versions and the UK got 400cc & 647cc Called a Bros.

Heres what my ride looked like stock- with a racy blue n white paint job... LOL

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e12/rklutts/hawk_frt.jpg

It was bone stock except the air boxed was drilled for more flow.

I saw Alex's bike from St.Louis and want to go that way. But with some cleaner lines.

I did not like the way the F2 tank looked with that lip around the lower section cause it hangs out over the fram a little just made it look "not complete" or pieced on. So I decided to fill it in while I was fixing the dent in the left top ridge.

we got[in britian] the bros 650[ntv 650 shaftie version] and the 400[grey import] used to know a guy that put an africa twin lump in one of those gave it a nice edge nice bike mate different ..

HawkJr
13-04-2007, 12:58 AM
Yeah I have read about putting in the African 750 twin for a little more grind! Theres a local US racer with a biz called JD Hord and he has gotten a highly modded engine to hit 100hp on hi dyno... not what I would call a daily driver by any means.

cheers

If you can take constuctive critasisem im not keen on the headlights.
Needs somthing smaller to finish it off just my opinion which means nothing to your build.

That's well cool mate. Nice work. If I would add something into the mix it would be to trim the exhaust pipe back to the end of the rearset and remount the muffler down there so gicing it a shorter look. The muffler seems to dominate it a bit and if it was in front of the tail piece which wants to be the furthest part of the bike back it would give a stockier appearance. Still looks good though.

I love it [8D]

But do tend to agree with Gix[:0]or run it right up to the sub frame and have it really close to the seat rather than a gap.
And maybe cut the can down to 300mm it will shorten up the rear a bit.;)

Oh buy the way is it legal in the states to have the number plate mounted like that[?]

Dose any body know if you can have it like that in Australia[^]

Nice one. That tank looks shitloads better without the ridge the other example had.
well done, all good except for the muffler hangin too far back.
Welcome to the site by the way..!!

Seen a few Harley customs with their plates like that Damo, dunno if it was quite kosher though. But then neither is your pipe is it?

I completely agree with u guys on the long exhaust... does not look right now that I have shortened the rear on it. I like what Ross has done with is exhaust... it's exactly what u guys were talking about. routeing the pipe under and behind the rear set and choppig the pipe down. Maybe thats next winters project... cause all I wanna do right now is ride it.

Here's what Ross did:

http://www.hawkgt.com/photoalbum/albums/userpics/10111/current%20Hawk.jpg

As for the plate, it's legal here and yes many HD's hang the plates like that. I just need to run my LED lighted plate bolts to it so the plates lite at night.

Very neat Rob, I like it. What are you doing about a front guard?

25-04-2007, 10:26 AM
led plate bolts arent dot, careful they could get you on it if they want to. I see that robs bike has a vrod headlight. i kinda like that light.
