My thoughts aswell. When you only had the little stumpy tail,it looked balanced, front and rear were small, but now with the bigger tail,it looks like somethings missing where the headlight is.
Im still liking it anyway!

You know when your working on ya bike and think I can't be bothered. Had that for the last 3-4 weeks struggling to get motivated, finally got it to a point I could go for a test ride. The first time boost builds and the front lifts its all gone why did I wait so long. The fella in the Hilux shit when the BOV went off as I went past :) :).
Still needs paint, a strange little rattle under th tank ( nothing big) and I could probably pull the harness out and clean it up.
NFR is next so it all can wait
xa-mont
13-10-2012, 04:37 PM
why wait for NFR... do it all beforehand and put the pressure on yourself like i'm doing... i have a wiring loom and front end in my lounge right now.

nice Yella are you gonna change the paint now you have red wheels?
Yella
24-03-2014, 07:43 PM
Yep paint will change again but as with everything it will take some time and some thought to figure out what to do. Maybe build the 9 and get some real power before paint maybe dunno but it will happen and flat bars as a minimum are a must this time round
if you want gold fat bars I have a set that I thought would do the trick! but i went black !

did ya see the carbon ones they do they are awesome , on the yzf there a good width wide but not too wide
Cruisecontrol
26-03-2014, 04:28 AM
Never understood fat bars myself.
Is it merely for looks or is somehow beneficial?
wackyrider
26-03-2014, 08:45 AM
Dan,
I'm more trying to play it safe with the fat bars I'd say as I've seen a few standard bars when the bike is dropped. I actually had a set on my CB600f that bent and left an indentation with the shape of the throttle cable in the tank. I would say that the fat bars should probably bend / distort less and also closer the edge of the bar due to where the bars taper down
wackyrider
26-03-2014, 08:46 AM
Plus, they look awesome too. Don't like the look if skinny bars
Cruisecontrol
26-03-2014, 11:05 AM
What are your fatbars made of?
Personally I think it looks odd to have a swollen lump in the middle of the bars only to taper down to 7/8ths anyway.
Yella
26-03-2014, 04:16 PM

I like the look of the fat bars or I have this http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL699/13392715/23869680/399584202.jpg for standards

26-03-2014, 08:35 PM
When are you changing the rims?
Yella
27-03-2014, 09:55 AM
I have swapped out the complete front end last Sunday arvo going to finish it off and do the complete rear this weekend. At some stage I will have to talk to Ben and get some triples made I think the steering head angle or atleast the offset is different.
Yella
28-03-2014, 07:41 PM
The old steering stem drama. Need to either get a new stem or machine this one down a bit so I can get the top brace down low enough to fit correctly then need to get a nut machined up so the stock top stem seal will work. Thinking out loud,
The bearings that are fitted now are not the stock units and sit a little higher than the normal so the seals don't sit in place 100%, if I get a new stem made to the same spec as the stock unit but fitting the GSXR lower triple I can use the stock bearings and seals with out an issue. Or I could get a complete set of triples made only problem with that is cash flow so maybe later 5564556555665567
Also thinking I may need to redo the oil feed line as the tyre sits a little closer to the turbo now (just a little)
Yella
29-03-2014, 05:33 PM
Bittersweet morning,The Outkast's new swinger and rear wheel is ready to go in
5572
but it was the final part of "The Wretched" a bike I watched being built. Think Im getting odd as I get older slightly sad feeling pulling The Wretched apart. 5573
But that didn't last long as soon as I looked at the new front in the 7 and the new rear on the ground all was good.
Yella
30-03-2014, 04:29 PM
56005601 Swinger and wheel fitted not exactly happy with a couple of items so will play around with it a little more but definitely looking good (not that you can tell from the pic's)
Yella
30-03-2014, 07:06 PM
56025603The difference in length between the 7 and the 9 swinger. going to see if I can use the stock 7 brake hanger and calliper also need to look at the axle spacers and blocks to see if I can get a better fit.
Yella
03-04-2014, 06:19 PM
Picked up a set of bars from MCAS :) and fitted. The new view from the seat
5621562256235624
Once I get the back sort properly and the shed has had a little clean. I will get it off the stand and see how I like it may end up with a low rise set yet then I can work out cables and lines
much better with the bars yella

Have to work out if I can mod the Turbo lines/radiator for a little more clearance the GSXR triples have less offset then the ZX7 so the wheel is a little closer to the turbo/radiator than before, may need to get some triple made to the correct offset
hooligan
07-04-2014, 12:21 PM
Looks great, Yella. Well, except for the candy red/yellow/green paint scheme.
what about changing to a 120/60 tire instead of new triples? would that help a bit?
When i changed from a 91 model gsxr 1100 front end to a K4 1000 front end, i saved 4.4kgs just on the forks and brake calipers. Then include the carros... please have this bike ready for nfr.
Yella
07-04-2014, 04:53 PM
Paint is going to change but will have to wait till I'm happy with the set up first and maybe a new tail never really fell in love with the current one and a new exhaust but before the 9 motor gets fitted . I will have a look at the tyre and see what I can be done.

direct bolt in originally or did he have to mod it much . what other zxr gear have you got lying around that you might want to part with , do you have a gear lever side rearset complete ?
Yella
24-04-2014, 02:00 PM
I need to get a some spacers made up but that's about it shouldn't be to hard most of the main bits line up OK. As for bits I may have a rearset in the shed will check and let you know
Yella
24-04-2014, 05:45 PM
The spacers will look something like this
https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/v/t1.0-9/1509767_557631324353569_1746039992926006009_n.jpg? oh=0d9597788e6f4e303df1c2ef6e96aef4&oe=53BE9483&__gda__=1405291626_f3dc2c41b4896cadf61adf5371339c2 9
should all fit using the zx10 pivot
Yella
15-06-2014, 03:19 PM
Well things are moving slowly and I needed a ride so I slapped it together with the zx9 swinger, cable tied the headlight on and went for a ride. didn't worry about the exhaust sounds POOOOORRRRRRRNNNNNN. It will take some getting use to. Front feels so much different.

Are you repainting the entire bike Yella??? Or just the wheels and misc new parts??
Yella
16-06-2014, 09:25 PM
Complete bike, probably the only bit that wont get paint is the wheels maybe. But that will wait till I have all the bits together. I was going to wait to paint till I finished the 9 motor build but that will take a little bit of time so paint will happen sooner
