does anyone have any ideas what would be causing my 88 750 slingshot to burnout the sidestand diode it only happens when the headlights are turned on ive checked for burnt/broken or shorted wires and i can find anything

Put a multi meter in line with a replacement diode to see what the curret draw is through it. It's prob a short somewhere drawing to much current.
