Looking for a new project

After doing just about everything I could to my Buell I decided to sell it to a mate. The sale leave way for me to start something new, I've been thinking of a Kawasaki 2-stroke triple, possibly a 500 or even better a 750. The plan is to drop In an USD front end and so good brakes, a better swingarm, brace the chassis and a custom paint job. The problem I'm having is finding a running bike that's not been renovated which costs a packet...

The best way to get a reasonably priced triple is have one imported out of the US. Plenty of importers out there bringing in cars, bikes and jet skis. They charge about $1000 and do all the paperwork.

Great idea. A lethal 2 stoke in a frame and running gear that handles. Only rode a few of those triples in the seventies. The Kawasaki 400, 500 and 750s were super fast in a straight line if you could keep the front end down. In the twisties they realy did handle like a pig and brakes were crap. Suzuki had a few large capacity 2 stroke GTs, a 380 triple with Ram air, 500 twin, 550 triple and a 750 triple water bus. Might even be able to find a Yamaha RD400 twin as they were quite popular in Oz. I rode my brothers Yamaha IT 465 or 490 in the eighties and was amazed how quick it was for a 2 stroke single. Should be a few of those still around in sheds and cheap and easy to rebuild.
