No vehicle other than an emergency vehicle may have forward projecting red or blue lights....there is proper wording in legislation somewhere.
Are those photo's or an artists interpretation for evidence?

Pritty standard law really , cops have em you cant simple. Most lights sold in shops have a disclamer on the packet , joys if buying on the net Pete but even most lights sold on the net have the disclamer warning you there not legal everywhere.

The lowest paid qualified mechanic in my shed earns $29.50 an hour and thats pritty shit for down here but they don't work to hard eather lol In a shed 11 km down the road doing "shitter work" there charging out at $75 an hour (and about to put it up to $85 granted thats not what the mechanics getting in the pocket But to say there is no money in it . What do you call money Pete ?

BANDITROD
25-09-2011, 08:08 PM

I think all coloured lights (LED/Neons) are illegal. I got done years ago for it. Only $75 and no points.

Pete, the NSW RTA do not allow any other colour lighting other then White on the front and Red for the rear and in case of trailers, trucks, and the like, they can run amber (yellow) running lights facing forward with red facing rear.

In your case, blue is a big no no, so not suprised that your cop mate booked you.

And I know what your thinking, what about all the others with them LED washer sprays on the hoods and what not, well there not legal either, just havnt been told yet.

Rod with 6 Mechanics working in that shed and charging out from 7 to 5 monday to thur with a 3 pm shutdown on fri (even had a nice rolling rdo) I'd say not a whole heap. A mate worked in there for 11 years and the shed wasnt slow to often. A single mechanic on his own has his work cut out for him to grind out a living without saving costs (like living in the shed) I know a guy thats done just that for the last 25 years loves it even raising his kids there.

ive been in my shed now for 4 yrs working ,been living here on and off for 2 yrs,ive built so many cars for people, from vintage to modern, my latest was a 2004 xr6t complete body swap after a women backed it into a tree a 50ks and stuffed ,it ,,it took me 7 days from front to back to swap everything ,i charged them $550 a day so you know the work is hard the hours are long but i love it,the best thing about what i do is that there is no restoration businesses in this area ,and i get cars sent to me from everywere,i subcontract out panel work ,etc but do 90 percent myself,,i still have tight months like all,

Answer the question Pete.

99% of the engineers I've had anything to do with are fuckwits, you must have to get a lobotomy to be one.

I did my Mechanical Engineering Diploma at Tafe Pete, that's why I was asking. It's one of the hardest courses you can do at Tafe, so you've done well to finish it. 75% of the class I was in failed to complete the course.

Latheboy I'd like to think I'm in the 1%, I'm not working as an engineer so that's how I'm justifying me not being a fuckwit. I do work with a few Civil Engineers and admit your comment is warranted.

So back on to what I think was the original topic. I was talking to my roadworthy guy the other day and he said they now have to take pics of the vehicles that come through. I guess this stops the kids putting 24" wheels on their hyundi's and saying "it passed a roadworthy like that!"

I put blue leds into the marker lights on the Freightshaker Agony I was driving and the good folk from the RTA Narranderra were nice enough to warn me about it and not knock me off for them. This is despite the fact that 4 nights before the blokes up the road at Parkes weighed me and sent me on my way without bothering to mention them.
Not everyone cares about them Pete, but in the case of your local bloke? It makes for an easy sting - if you contest it you're another filthy motorcyclist doing the wrong thing...
