Ok so I am changing the front end in the bandit I want to keep the stock gauges but I can't use the cable speedo drive anymore cos it won't fit on the axle I have thought about trying to mod it to fit but it will hit the forks and just end up being a pain in the arse so what I want to know is .....is there a cable to electronic converter avail that I can attach to speedo itself I was certain that there was something out there but I can't seem to find it

From googling I think you need this (http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=246/category_id=-1/home_id=-1/mode=prod/prd246.htm) and something like this (http://www.thegearbox.org/catalog/item/3838217/7084167.htm).

Sourcing a late model Bandit Speedo that's digital would prob be cheaper?

Or you could get something like this (http://www.speedhut.com/custom_gauge_description-gauge_type-Speedometer_GPS-auto_number-864.htm) and not worry about where the cable is run to cause you could just stick most of it under the tank and the transponder unit in the tail somewhere.

Oh and you can fully customise the face of it too. So you can have it saying "Jacktar's Mum" if that's what floats your boat. And let's be honest we know you wanna ride her...

I had similar thoughts when I posted this...

I expect if you already have a front end to use then
it makes other options worth looking at. I hope to find
a cable drive front end when i do mine.

I'll be interested to see how you get on if you keep the
factory clocks. I thought about gutting the clocks and putting
digital internals into the original case.... maybe ?

Fit a late model Bandit speedo and sprocket cover with the electronic pick up in it, and the matching sprocket nut to take the signal from, it's pretty straight forwards I've done it on a couple of early B12s and GSXR11s

the only problem will be your output shaft won't have been drilled and tapped with the appropriate thread to hold the signal thingy.

I had to make a special countershaft nut which I welded the rotor thingy to for the pick up to sense, spinning the back wheel by hand appears I'm on to a winner but may prove a bit more difficult than you think.

Hope this makes sense :D
