View Full Version : Buell front ends?

I know basically less than nothing about these.

Do they come with dual brake discs and calipers or are they solely a single sided unit?

I know they come with USD forks but that's about where my lack of knowledge kicks in.

I like the look of them but would prefer two discs over one if it's possible.

They only have the one single rim mounted front disc??
Not sure bout the older models tho.

I'm no super dooper stunter, but having done a few thousand clicks on an XB9 Lightning One rotor was enough.. they look trick too [:p]

No, dont think so.
It is a double disc rim-mounted brake set up though,
which is nice and quite unusual.

The theory is that if it's on the perimetre you're getting much more braking resistance so one disk is ample. Can't find any official write ups about it, but it's a physics thing.

Yep I understand the theory behind brakes - that being they convert kinetic energy to heat energy through resistance, and I understand the extra braking area also meaning a lack of brake fade on the solo disc, due to heat dissipation etc, but aesthetically I like two discs. Like boobs, I just can't seem to survive just having one to play with.

easy test you can do is get a bicycle wheel and spin it, and try stopping it by pinching the rim,then by the hub,rim is shit loads easier.
