I might have a line on one of these (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mazda-MPS-CX7-Genuine-K0422-Turbo-charger-/260834060562?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cbaebe912#ht_500wt_1156), and was thinking of using it on the bandit. What I'm after is reasons it will/wont work, what kind of issues I'll have and what kind of performance/ride-ability I can expect. I plan to change to injection, upgrade the clutch, use forged pistons, better con rods and different cams. I was thinking about 10-15 pounds of boost.

Flame away!

im no expert and there will be a few on here soon to help better
but save yr money on the pistons and rods and buy a correct sized turbo for how much power and rideabilty you want
tune is what kills most turbo motors not pistons or rods, most live very happy with boost as you arnt reving the thing more than u allready where
10 at a pinch you can go un intercooled (i wouldnt) but 15 u will need to intercool it depends on what sort of power you after
lots of gsxr and bandit motors have had boost up their arse so id look at what others have done for power they make
but a gsx 1400 on 5 pounds boost should make allmost 200 rwhp with standard cams (btw standard cams prob best to use save money for the injection)
any 1 want to learn basics should if they get a chance look at a book called maximum boost by corky bell
its a older book and some of the refferances are out of date but the basics and the way he explanes things is gold
in aus you pay 90 for it i got my 2nd copy(low life prick stole it when i leant him it cunt i had spend hrs makeing notes and high lighting parts )
but uk ebay had it for under 40 to my door
cheers

Got a PDF copy off the Internet. If you don't size the turbo right you will be spending all you time trying to get it to work right and then probably remaking you exhaust system and up pipe to cater for the correct turbo. Go with a Garret and just use what others have had success with. At least with a Garrett you can up grade and the flanges should be the same depending on what you want to up grade to.

Injection is a good thing but use a decent ecu or you will be pulling your hair out even more

Do it once and do it right and you will get a great result

Thanks for the tips guys, the reason I was looking at this turbo was because it was going to cost me abou 50 bucks. I really don't know enough about turbos so now I know what to read I'll start looking stuff up. Might just go down the N/A route that I was already looking at. Will see.

Use either a gt28r (s15 silva turbo) or a gt2554r slightly smaller than a 28r and you will be right

So why would you get it ceramic coated? Does it provide any real world benefit?

it stops it rusting...

Ok cool thanks for that. I wasn't sure if it was something to do with heat like exhaust wraps etc; or something else like look. now I know neither one was correct. Thanks.

Of course they claim it helps spool up etc but the difference is not noticeable. It does reduce heat around the turbo but on a bike the turbos in the wind anyway.
