I was sitting around doing fuck all today and I ended up down in my cave looking through some of the shit I have collected over the years

So what other way to get rid of this stuff than having a swap meet I know that you guys prob have a lot of parts laying around that you just can't be bothered photoing and posting for sale so I thought maybe we could have an annual bike parts swap meet it would be a good way for us to catch up and also offload some of our trash/treasure to some who wants it

What do you reckon guys/gals

Is it worth the trouble or not

I'd be keen Rod. Timing would be the biggest issue for me.

Worth the trouble but how and when?
Since cars and trailers may be required then perhaps a weekend in a state forest might be good? Dirt bikes, camping, 4x4? Swap stuff have a good weekend and go home dirty with more shit than you left home with.

Si has enough on his plate and I would rather do this sort of thing in person myself that way we could have a catch up and bullshit session

Sounds good to me rod, maybe with the option for others outside of the ASF fold also ? IE add in a bike mag and make it a fundraser for the ASF site possably ? Maybe at a track like heathcote ? Do something similar to the broadford deal where people can come watch some racing and do a swap meet mostly relating to bikes. There is room for camping etc and a reason for other bike people to come , plus a few car nutters to add to the numbers. Just a idea.

Think its a good idea, but gettin enough people there to make it worthwhile could be difficult seeing as we'r so spread out. But im all for it! Never turn down an excuse to drink n talk shit with youse cunts!

Im with the open idea.. if we made it a more general bike swap meet, it would open up the options a bit.
Location and that kinda stuff could be a problem, but if there was enough interest, im sure it could work.

I was planning on it being open to general public I was thinking maybe this time next year should make it easier when everyone has just done there tax return

Great idea. This might be something to think about.

Last year up here in Armidale we orgasnised a fundraiser / poker rally / Show and Shine day for some workmates who are suffering from leukemia. We only had 6 weeks to organise the event. Local businesses got on board and donated items for an auction. We sold raffle tickets and had a band play at the end of the day and into the night. We ended up with about 120 bikes and 40 or so Hot Rods. The day raised $20,000 and was a great success.
So we decided that we will make this an annual event to raise money for Leukemia. We have already started the planning for next years event. It will be an all weekend one this time with camping etc available. We have been thinking about incorporating a bike swap meet for the weekend as well. This will take place in mid February 2012, and probably the same every year.

Just a thought guys. And you get to ride some of the best roads in Aus on the way here. Oxley - Thunderbolts - Waterfall Way depending on what direction you come from.

Let me know your thoughts.

Regardless, it would be a great event for some of you guys to attend as well. Not many Streetfighters around this area.

Cheers, Jed.

I think Tumbleweed is just rolling through the forum gradually working out if he fits in and also working on slowly increasing his post count.
