That type of super charger is clicked off by the tacho from memory. Its not ment to have constant revs to it otherwise they over heat and sease up. If the signal from the tacho isnt working then it may have just stayed off all the time. Not bad buy there Pete for $800. Lick of paint and a tidy up and you should make some money off that thing.

looks like a castlemaine rod shop kit if it is the wire you connected to the battery is supposed to be wired to a switch so you can turn the charger off (its one of there selling points "for fuel economy" dont know why you would buy a supercharger if your worried about fuel LOL))although its got me fucked why you would want to do that those things will make boost all day as long as you dont over gear them about 6psi is safe full time but over about 8psi they tend to self destruct if its a SC12 (SC14 are ok to 8psi usually)

I installed an SC14 on my VL ten years ago, and it is still good today, running six psi constantly. I have the "Mad Max" blower on/off switch on the dashboard ,but it NEVER gets turned off.
Good score for 800bux, the last I heard the aftermarket kit with that blower costs around twice that, and you got the car too!

I have a sc14 or two. They will pump 14 psi into a twin cam 2L all day as long (but the mag clutch will slip at pressures over 9 psi) as you keep em below 10,000 rpm they will last almost forever. Great for Holden v6's dont give you a big hp increase up top but really give them a needed shove down low.
