good to hear you're still riding n have upgraded ron, any normal bloke might have given up after that shitful day you had. i e-mailed an angry rant to rapid bikes about what happened on that day n won a bottle of oil n chain lube for letter of the issue, published in last edition. i hope this forum wasn't where you met those riders who wiped you like a dirty ass, some on here sure seem catty. don't know how ta p.m. you but would be good to catch up n go riding under better circumstances

hey guys, i read that piece in rapid, good to see that the biker fraternity can still look after its own, low act followed by a bit of decency. good on ya psycobilly.

ron was riding restricted but was desperate to go for a ride, met up with some guys from an internet forum who weren't waiting for his 250 to keep up. he passed a car where the others had n got collared by a cop coming in the other direction. no-one waited or came back or even hung around at the next stop for him. he waved me down because he needed an escort home with a full lisence holder (cops wanted to take his keys, n were waiting up the road) i took him on a back road that is challenging n fun at near legal speeds so as not to kill his enthusiasm. the fact he got his lisence n a bigger bike means i did my job n he will now be my riding buddy. we need more learners getting through the ever tightening net

That's the spirit Gordon. I'd have done the same and I know a lot of guys on here would too. Good to know we're not alone.

What a bunch of fuckwits the other guys were. You always wait a few minutes ahead for anyone tagging behind and if they don't show head back to make sure they're ok. It's standard. What sort of tools would just take of and leave a new rider? What if had hurt himself? Shits me to hear there are dickheads like this out there.

I call it the code. Never leave a mate behind.

Ask anyone who has rode to the NFR

I wait 5mins and head back.

Last time I waited longer i found my mate and his pillion sprawled across the table drain on the side of the road half way up glorious. (It was a night time suicide run). They survived, his bike didn't.

now I just head back. It makes little difference to me if I'm on a faster bike, more experienced, or whatever. In all honesty with a new rider i would have told them to set the pace settled in and enjoyed the scenery and tunes form my mp3 player. It's the best way to go and puts them under no pressure to try and keep up.

i"m not one for riding in groups to be honest, what starts off as a nice day out usually ends up not being so nice!! in the great words of Casey Stoner, "your ambition was greater than your ability" if that applies to Vale, I'm damn sure it applies to me. I've been riding since i was 12 and i'm 45 now. i know my limits, and they fall waaaaaay short of the limits of my bike............... just being honest. Don't get me wrong, i know how to ride, i just done feel quite as immortal as i did 20 years ago.

if anyone out there is looking for a genuine cruisy ride out i'm up for it, but i'll lesave the hreoics to others more capable. i'm in ormeau, so not far from psycobilly, and si.

hey stuart, not a good story to learn the value of keeping an eye out for others. years ago i got told off by a more experienced rider for going past a broken down triumph cause i didn't know much bout triumphs (back when they used to leak oil n were unreliable) now i stop for everyone. i agree too bout kicking back n let the pace be set by the inexperienced, we're not trying to qualify on a public road, i just try to be smooth n not use the brakes to "keep up". also just like steve my bikes ability far outweighs my own, plus the fact that your license can be mortally wounded by one silly manouvre dictates the pace i ride by myself or with others. i often take my daughter on the back which makes you think more about consequences while riding, but it should make no difference if she's at home. the result of a bad off is the same for my family weather she is there or not.
