Hey guys,
Im currently giving my home bar an upgrade and wanted to change the beer tower to suit the motor theme of the bar. What I have in mind is one of those large 3" twin tip mufflers with the beer taps sticking out the main cannister.
Any ideas what grade stainless the cheaper mufflers on ebay use as Ill need to do a cut and shut job. Ill also be needing to weld on a base to mount the thing, so where can I get a small sheet from, im thinknig I could cut up an old fry pan but if you have any better ideas then let me know.
Thanks

Sorry for the delay, the bar is still a work in progress but this is to give you the jist of it as I go...
I decided not to bother with any welding as it would be more effort than it is worth.
Heres what I started with:

After a bit of cutting, sanding varnishing and test mounting...

As to the tower itself I decided to go with two exhausts and use one simply as a donor for a cover panel

The taps will come out of the pictured panel, I just need to find a tool capable of drilling a 24cm hole in stainless...
Ill post more pics up tomorrow once the tower is mounted and beer is pouring. Ill also include a few pics of the rest of the setup..

High speed hole saw (standard steel type hole saw) will cut stainless steel just fine . Just run a hose over it slow and do it outside so the water goes on the lawn. Keep the pressure constant and speed on the low side to keep the heat down and it will cut fine. If the teath slip to much the surface will heat and harden.
