My young blokes bike starts easy when cold, but a prick to get started when hot. Bump starts easy, but hopeless when kicking. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Terry

I think for memory they have a hot start system on some models. Does it have it are you using it? Some people confused it with decomp and because they could kick it over never worried about it and had a bastard of a time starting once hot.

Yella is right Terry it should have a hot start lever near the clutch lever somewhere if not it will have one directly on the carby (from memory)

It does have a hotstart lever near the clutch. I'll check to make sure it's working properly. When we bought the bike the owner said he turns the petrol off before killing the motor. Does this sound like something is worn in the carby?, or is that standard for dirt bikes. Thanks for the replys.

That sounds a bit odd to me Terry how many hours has it done since having valves checked ....and makes sure you keep air cleaner spotless ..with the maintainence involved in the four strokes these days you are almost better off with a 2 stroke

Only a couple of hours since a valve check. The young blokes gone riding today so I'll see how it is this arvo. It's just had a new barrel, piston and rings. I hear what your saying about 2 strokes, but the noise resonates in my head.
