Custom Sounding Horn?

hi all! any one knows how to extract a needed sound from a piezo horn? how do they work? say i need a mixed sound resembling both a nazguls fell beasts screaming and ravens crowing at the same time
is there a way of gettin 1?

If you use a HiFi horn compression driver (high powered audio tweeter) you can record what ever you like on a cheap digital message recorder and play it through a audio amp to your driver hey presto custom horn ! A cheap wide range driver will work from about 800 hz up to 26 khz with a relitivley flat responce.

i need a bike horn shrieking "ozzlem!!!" not a disco on wheels
if i grab a car alarm siren and take it apart what i'll find inside? a loud speaker, an amp and some sound generator with memory unit? if so i can really use its loud speaker and amp and the cheapest mp3 flash player and of course i'll have to utter and record the sound then process it until im satisfied with it thats no prob i can utter really horrible sounds haha!

Most alarms use a pizzo horn with a built in audio generator the alarm only switches it on.

i have a stebel magnum (single one out of the double kit) and its pretty fucking loud, apparently these nautilus ones will get you noticed :D

Surt , it could be as simple as a relay wired through its own switching contacts to occilate , or as complex as a memory/processor chip playing samples of real sounds. Most are just a simple chip with audio driver to make basic noises or a basic transistor multivibrator circuit.

Mate if you want something loud and original, just go with a small audio amp around 50 watts (you can get single 12 volt micro chip amps in this wattage around 10cm square board and mount it in your own box) and use a horn loaded driver from a high end Public Address audio system (night club stereo) A good driver/horn setup is good from 1khz to 20 khz with 3 db at about 90 db effeciency. (it will play from deep male voice to above human hearing with a reosnable flat responce) then just use your computer to record what you want to use and store it on a cheap mp3 player.

A setup like that will be as loud as most car horns at the same frequencys and seem far louder at higher frequencys, and play almost anything you like.

Seeing as the bike will have compressed air (its turboed right ?) If you want simple just modify an air horn, modulating the air supply can be fun and using a electric solonoid to change the resonance of the diaphram and or length of horn (like a trumpet) can get some real interesting sounds happening.

id like to synthesize the sound i want and burn it into the horn chip but atm i aint able to thus i gunna take the easiest way we'll see how itll turn out just bought el cheapo choonga amp

also soon i'll be given an old 156kb flash recorder and i'll have to hook its play button to the horn button on bike and make it play repeatedly

There junk mate ignore the power rating (they will handle a max of about 10 watts rms before smoke comes out of them!)
There very directional with a spread beam of about 15 to 25 deg max.

If you look around you will find one cheaper I'm sure but this is what you want. The out put of the ones you listed was 97 db this was prob bullshit and not even tested but even if it was correct the ones I have listed are 108 db @ 1 watt output (for every 3 db increase your looking at about twice the sound output for the same input power IE 108 is about 4 times louder)

Just be aware they prob wont work much below around 8 khz , a woman or childs voice tops out at about 5 khz.
