are you sure its not an oil pressure problem ...i reckon mishdog used to have the same prob with his R6

Mishdog20
31-01-2012, 07:01 PM
Nah it just used to use heaps of oil...lol. I never had a problem with the oil pressure, but the stator and rec-reg's are common problem. Oh that and second gear.

kiwi kdx
31-01-2012, 07:21 PM
i really hope not, i have heard the sensors do play up
a bit, ill get a new one and swap them out if its not unplugged
or anything silly like that.

ok so after some reading, my R6 only has an oil level light
there is no pressure light and as the oil level is fine
im guessing the sensor it either fuked or unplugged.

BANDITROD
31-01-2012, 08:14 PM
typical yamahahahaha

kiwi kdx

so she is up and running, a littie bit rough at the moment, but a service and some carb clean will sort that!

turns out the oil level light is flashing coz........ its low on oil, who woulda thought???????

i found out on the R6 you dont screw the dipstick all the way in when you check the level,

so after the service that should be sweet!

Vic roads all they check is the chassis & engine number, which you need to show them were they are. A mate went down to register his bike, so took it don on the back of his Hilux. The guy at Vic roads was too scared to climb up and just said, 'Ok, I believe you', and just signed off on it. LOL

and yeah cant wait to rip all the rego crap off and go for a spin!

BANDITROD
17-02-2012, 03:17 PM
the reason they dont climb in the back of utes is because it is a worksafe issue ..thats why they usualy make you unload it

hahahahaha!!! most days i do deserve a punch in the cock.......

but not today.... as today i got this.....

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg173/d21terrano/plate.jpg

so got it home, shitty stock exhaust off, stumpy on and out for a spin!

rides like a dream, tracks beautifully! its running verry lean with the race system on and i still have the K&N
to put in, so ill have to move the clips up a few notches on the needle's.

now.... a tip, when riding your new street fighter for the first time........

be mindfull of your upright riding position......FUK ME THE FRONT END LIFTS UP QUICK!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyway took it home and pulled it apart again.

so i could see how this looks!

My $0.02 the top/flat section of the tail should be on the same angle as the front of the tank. (steering head to fuel cap)
Not necessarily in line but at the same angle.

MattyDucati
21-02-2012, 07:08 PM
agree with k61000 with the angle and maybe 6" shorter? bike is looking horn!

kiwi kdx
21-02-2012, 08:02 PM
Yeah im with ya both on the angle!

i may shorten it up a bit, but not too much as i really want to use the original seat.

Fight_fan
22-02-2012, 08:05 AM
Yep what they said!
Def needs to be shortened up a bunch.

kiwi kdx
22-02-2012, 11:55 AM
u guys love ur short tails huh!!!

im gonna perk the subframe and seat angle up by about 5 deg.

that should allow me to move the tail forward about 75mm, maybe more but ill have to wait till i get another subframe to hack up and see.

Fight_fan
22-02-2012, 12:30 PM
u guys love ur short tails huh!!!

Ahh yes sir, yes we do!

kiwi kdx
22-02-2012, 08:08 PM
i was gonna wait and get a 2nd sub frame, but then tonight i thought fuk it!

so i took to mine with a hacksaw to get a rough idea of what i could do with still

using the original seat.

this is what i have so far.....

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg173/d21terrano/20120222_200023-1.jpg

i will get a nice thin cut off wheel next week and start taking out slices untill i get it rite, but this is the angle i want, it will move up about 40-50mm and froward about 15mm by the time i take a bit more meat out.

LKC73
23-02-2012, 11:04 PM
The boys are right, short tail and have the rear wheel stickin out the back :p
The new angle looks great, but hopfully you use the full hight of the RC8 tail, nice sharp high tail!!!

LKC73
23-02-2012, 11:05 PM
Oh and congrats on the rego mate! Im sure its a blast to ride.

kiwi kdx
24-02-2012, 10:09 AM
thanks mate, it is a hell of a lot of fun to ride,

FUKEN loud tho!!!!! its ok when crusing along, but sitting at the lights and a cop pulls up next to me and it's sits there rumblling and spluttering like a V8 running off the headders! i love it! its sure to get me into trouble.....

im gonna get the tail as high as i can, but im determin to use the stock seat.

Gix11
24-02-2012, 02:16 PM
Don't compromise it because of the stock seat mate! If the seat needs chopping or changing to make it work properly why not do it? It's all part of the process.

kiwi kdx
24-02-2012, 03:38 PM
oh if i have to i am more than willing to, i just think i will be able to get away with not loosing it, and still have a good look and comfy ride.

kiwi kdx
28-02-2012, 11:07 AM
due to the shitty weather i only got a small bit done today.

now i know some of u fellas are gonna say its still too long, but im gonna wait to see it all glassed up
before i take any more out.

the angle and height of the tail is set.
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg173/d21terrano/20120228_110305.jpg
still need to trim a chunk off the bottom of the tail, ubove the hugger.
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg173/d21terrano/20120228_110315.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg173/d21terrano/20120228_110330.jpg

i diddn't cut much out of my subframe so no need to re-inforce that.
i just had to bake up some bracing for the tail tidy.
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg173/d21terrano/20120228_105743.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg173/d21terrano/20120228_105749.jpg

so just some glassing and bogging to do, then paint,

Does anyone have any input for a colour scheme???? i wan to try and incorperate the KTM orange
somehow....somewhere.

Fight_fan
28-02-2012, 02:06 PM
The angle def looks good mate! U'v got ur work cut out glassing it all back together but it should look awesome!
I would suggest jst painting it orange, but thats been tried n failed a couple of times round these parts n is no longer a real popular choice LOL

kiwi kdx
28-02-2012, 03:52 PM
cheers mate, and glassing it is the easy bit!

fibreglass is playdough for adults!!!

the rain went away so i got a bit more done.

i used the original side pannels off the RC8 tail, but flipped them, virtically and horazontally, then side for side,
gave them a trim here and there and drilled a hole in each, so i can use the original bolt holes for the R6 side pannel.

FROM THE TOP
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg173/d21terrano/20120228_162033.jpg

AND WITH THE SEAT ON.
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg173/d21terrano/20120228_162119.jpg

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg173/d21terrano/20120228_162132.jpg

there is still a small gap i will have to shape and fill and im going to glass the back of the seat tray on for a bit of extra strenght.

mr.zxr
28-02-2012, 07:45 PM
good work mate. i did a lot of chopping and filling on mine and the result was just what i wanted. the RC8 tail looks very nice.

Fight_fan
29-02-2012, 08:20 AM
Heck yeah! Thats sweet mate!

LKC73
29-02-2012, 06:41 PM

kiwi kdx
01-03-2012, 11:16 AM
mate that is almost exactlly what im doing!

i may re-do the side pannels tho, put some nice angles on to widen under the wide part of the
seat and lose the curvey bits... wont really know till i start playing with it a bit more.

wackyrider
01-03-2012, 10:51 PM
Coming along nicely mate. Never really had a go at fibreglass so I have no idea how easy / difficult it is. Been meaning to make a bellypan for a while though

02-03-2012, 01:33 PM

Now you have to paint it KTM orange ;)
