Hi all,

anybody know anything about this bike. Its been in my pics for a couple of years and I love the way it looks. But what is it? I spy a gixxer oilcooled engine (1100/1200?), braced swingarm (GSXR750/1100L?) and USD front end but unsure on the rest?

An extensive internet search has failed to turn up anymore pictures, and I've been suggested everything from a suzuki GS to a 'Kawasuki' Z650 frame etc. I'm also guessing it might be German

Anyone else got any ideas?

I actually quite like the challenge.

They're GSXR 1100 forks, front guard, triple clamps and motor, vance and hines sidewinder pipes, Z650 tail piece, Kawasaki Z1 frame, looks like a Z650 tank, custom side panels, but the swingarm has got me fucked, looks like an R1.

That's my guess anyway.

I'd say GS550/750 frame ? Maybe...

That looks like a zrx swinga to me but it's kinda hard to tell if it has eccentric adjusters or not

I thought ZRX were round tubes not box ?

Not a ZRX swinger Rob - they're round tube and have those big Kawa accentric chain adjusters. I think Si is right with the R1 guess.

Possibly a Suzi frame seeing how the engine mounts are all pretty much in the ballpark - maybe GSX1100ET or GS1000.

It all fits together pretty nicely if you ask me.

Yep your right about the zrx it does look like r1 but they are more rounded ...maybe it's a custom jobbie

It looks like a Z frame to me & seeing as the guy had a Gixer donor bike (even the brake pedal is GSXR) I'd bet on the swinger being a gix unit with an underbrace.
That's a really well styled bike but I like this one better [:p]

I got nothing on the bike, but I'm betting the tractor in the background is a John Deer...

Is that yellow bike really small, or is that bald guy 8 feet tall?

Looks to me like a GSX1100 frame with GSXR1100 motor, front end & swingarm that has been underbraced, possibly all from the same bike around a M model, & Z650 tank & tail.

Upon further inspection it is definately a Kawasaki Z frame, the tube that wraps around the steering head & the boxed triangular brace that can be seen in front of the tank are unique to the Z series.
By the standardish look of the lower & front engine mounts, the GSXR engine must be an easy fit.
The owner has found a the ultimate way to give his Gixer some street cred - make it look like a Kawasaki - shoulda painted it green though. [^]
The more I look at it, the more I like that bike.

Hope it handles better than all the Zeds I rode in the 70s. Could never find where Kawasaki put the hinge in the frame:D

As I mentioned somewhere before, in something, the first bike that I really wanted to emulate was a gixer motored Z1 (the best looking body ever made), that's why I know they fit. Shame we can't find this geezer hey? Would be good to get the actual details.

I'm pretty confident the frame is a Z1 / 1000, so much so I chased a few photos down:

Might as well go with the rest of the parts while I'm at it:

Now I really want to know!

Swinger's still got me fucked.....
