I know this is a streetfighter site. which i love.

but my project is gonna be with making a rat bike cafe racer style.

if anyone can point me in the right direction for parts or advice for this kind of build i would appreciate it greatly.

or if you have any advice yourself i would like to hear (read) any of it.

what i wanna do.

change the seat (which i think is gonna take some hacking of the frame which i don't know if it's safe or not? )
change the headlight
maybe add quarter fairing
fake white walls (probably just spray them with white paint haha)
red rims (old school style)

here's some concepts of what i want to achieve.

here's the final edit of which i'm most likely gonna end up with. added fender and seat springs

i'm up on the gold coast. so if anyone can help me out with locations of wreckers or someone with old bike parts it would be great.

i'm on a students budget but i'm willing to sink a few hundred into this project. i'm fully aware of the prices of new parts but don't know if there's second hand bits and pieces around.

Keep an eye on eBay for a ducati monster seat, that should give you the look your after. If you're not planning on doing much riding in the dark there also plenty of cheap Chinese round headlights on there too.

how are you planning on doing the rear springs? you'll need to fabricate mount for such, also work out the "working" angles of the shocks in order for them to work efficiently..

im on the coast and will a slot open in the garage at the end of july to help you out.

feel free to give me a call,

Also, if you're planning on converting a monoshock bike to a twin shock, the existing subframe might not be strong enough to handle the shock forces (it was only designed to carry the seat). You might need to re-design / beef it up a bit.

joe could figure that out for him without too much fuss
couple of braces etc

Why would u want to twin shock a monoshocked bike??? Seems like way too much pain in the arse for zero gain!
I rekon the 2nd pic looks way more awesomer!

Aren't the springs just for the seat? Well thats how i read it and if so a bad idea.
You would need a pivot on the subframe and it would move up and down with the swinger.

the dual shocks aren't essential.

to be honest they were just on the seat that i was photoshopping over. so i left them on.
