Great job on the calipers mate. Subtle but effective and a big improvement on the gold.

I got the headers done at Liverpool exhaust. It's the place that manufactures Hurricane headers and they do their own in house ceramic coating in silver or black.

Its the small things that make up the big picture and the appearance of any bike is the sum of all its parts.
Good to see your putting in the effort on the smaller details.....The finished bike will certainly be something to behold.
Very fucken nice so far. Keep it up.

I went checked out the paintwork today and it's looking pretty good. One of the pin stipes had some paint bleeding so it needs to be fixed, and then the whole thing cleared and flow coated. So hopefully early next week for that.
In the meantime i have been working on a coolant overflow bottle and oil catch can. I'm short for space for the oil catch can so i'm stealing an idea i saw on an RX7 forum. That is using an air compressor inline air/oil filter similar to this.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Inline-Spraying-Gun-Moisture-Tool-Compressor-Air-Filter-/180692519128?pt=UK_Air_Tools_and_Compressors&hash=item2a121d08d8
Apparently it works well. Any thoughts????

I fitted up my brake lines and tried to bleed the brakes and clutch. it's the first time i've tried to bleed radial master cylinders. WHAT A CUNT!!! 3 hrs and still no feel. the brakes work but the lever comes back to the grip and are spongy as, and the clutch won't work at all. Any tips???? i feel like a fucking amateur, asking how to bleed brakes, bu this is a real head fuck.
BANDITROD
20-09-2011, 04:12 PM
Do they have a bleed nipple on the master
mr.zxr
20-09-2011, 04:18 PM
yep they do. i tried that too. the master cylinders are brand new nissins. the same as a zx14.
BANDITROD
20-09-2011, 04:20 PM
It will take a while mate the easiest way is with a vacuum bleeder if you don't have access to one of those I suggest putting a rubber band on the lever and letting it sit overnight
mr.zxr
20-09-2011, 04:26 PM
ok mate, i'll give it a go. anyone have a vac bleeder i can borrow?
Watto
20-09-2011, 07:26 PM
another way mate if you have a spare disc lying around is to take the calipers off the forks and sit them higher than your master MC and bleed away with a disc inbetween the calipers - not sure why but I've found this to be a fairly quick way to get the air out of em
BANDITROD
20-09-2011, 07:55 PM
That is a good way to do it watto I have done the same in the past
mr.zxr
20-09-2011, 10:54 PM
funny you say that. the bike nearly ended up wheels up in frustration. sometimes the best thing to do is just walk away. i'm going to do a DIY vac bleeder tomorrow.
mr.zxr
21-09-2011, 03:06 PM
I got it sorted. A 1.25ltr coke bottle, clear hose and the vacuum. The up side is that I now have brakes and clutch, the downside is that i got brake fluid in the Dyson. i spent the rest of the day pulling apart and cleaning the vacuum before the wife got home.

I'm running fuel injection so my fuel pump is a Bosch high pressure unit and running a SARD fuel pressure reg. If your going to run carbies you need a low pressure pump and reg. As far as boost goes, i run 14psi but i do have lower compression and ceramic coated pistons. you can run 8psi ish on a standard setup.

Thanks mate.
Yer, it is on carbs, and we were only looking at running 7-8lb boost with it. That'll be enough to make a difference.
Am looking at a bit of a different setup as well. We were going to locate the Turbo more towards the rear. Most that I have found while trolling the net are at the header level. I keep you posted with any updates.

mate i love this build great use of engernering
the only thing i would change and trust me this is only a small thing because that whole bike is very strong
is the strightness of the down tubes to the turbo and i realise most of this be covered up the the rad so prob never a issue
i just have never liked the look of angled transisons into stright pipe and this is only a cosmetec thing as no diff in power
like i said only small and not a issue because of rad top job
mr.zxr
29-09-2011, 07:28 PM
I know what your saying, but they have to be straight. there is only 10mm clearance between the intercooler and the headers.the whole bike is pretty tight and there not much room for things. it's like a blonde in a gangbang porno... every little hole has been filled.

LOL, thats got to be a cunt mate! All set ready to go and a random bolt drops in. Ive done it before myself, but was lucky enough to have a magnet pointer and the bolt was steel.
That pic is a real headfuck. Looks like the bolt has been mangled into the top of the piston......needed to look closely to realise its the reflection off the cylinder wall.
mr.zxr
28-02-2012, 08:35 AM
I fucked around for hours with a telescopic magnet and wire through the valves but couldn't get it. in hte end it only took about an hour to have the motor out and apart. still a fucker though.

Ok , so i now have new high tensile head bolts, rebuilt head with new seals and valves re-cut and lapped, new rings, head gasket, base gaskets, cylinder hone. i'm thinking i might keep that little fucking bolt i dropped in. It's worth over $500.

I machined out the original clutch cover and then turned up all the parts and had it welded up. i looked around but no one did one for my model bike so i had to do it myself, apart from the welding.
