Apart from the fact they never sold them in the US, I don't see why they would be too rare, they must have sold a few with the twin exhausts. Have you tried the UK guys?

I've got another set of headers so I'm right for exhaust stuff atm.

You going to sell the stock forks? (I don't need them- just don't give them away)

I agree completely mate $$$$ but I thought it was only the earlier models that had the twin wall headers, the one's that stayed looking polished? Mine are discoloured with heat so I'm presuming/hoping they're the single wall jobbies....

I think there's only one way for real performance out of this motor and that involves selling one bike to fund the install of a snail....

Paid dual seat rego for this one so I'm keen to get it back together ASAP to make it worth my while having it!

The first ride revealed what I thought was massively warped discs after it tried to shake me to death braking up to a roundabout, but after a little investigation turns out the wheel bearings were of the triangular variety so that was an easy fix.

The big power killer on these is the size of the throttle bodies, graft some larger throttle bodies on or ditch them completely and fit a dyna 2000 ignition and some Mikuni RS40 flatslides

Alot of blokes have had good results with the yoshi cams and a power commander, seems to be the easiest way to get a decent increase. Big bore kit would be nice too.

Little bit of progress. Front end in, just a spacer needed for the axle and a pair of calipers which are on the way.

To do-

brake/clutch lines
fat bars
maybe a radial master cylinder
grips
mirrors
indicators
new seat

Love the top triple from Ben. Chunky!
Next week should see the stuff from the powdercoaters.

I had a look and the gauges look quite good but I've never been sold on the benefit of a what gear am I in light. Does anyone here use one?

A shift light on an upright naked bike needs to be like an aircraft landing light otherwise it's not noticed as its out of ur peripheral vision(had one on my speed triple and it was of no use. The one time I tried to consciously use it I almost ran off the fucking road from not looking up!).

Got the bits back from the powdercoaters today and as it was right on closing time and I didn't want to hold them up I just grabbed the box without looking at the parts....mistake.

Looking at the bits at home I find some of it looks like the powder has been mixed with sand so I guess I'll be taking it back tomorrow :(:(

Yes it does.

Took the parts back today and they were pretty good about it. They reckon it's to do with additives in the new powder, if it's put on too thick it produces little bubbles......I actually thought it wasn't put on thick enough but whatever, it's getting fixed.

Well after getting the Tokico Busa calipers I still have the same clearance issue I did with the R1 monoblocks so it would seem that the distance between the discs differs between the GSX14 and the Busa.

Its not much, probably 5mm so I'll now be organising some 2.5mm spacers so rectify it as per Gitzy's fork job on his TL (Gitzy u have mail).

For info the distance between the front rotors on the GSX14 is approx 128.5mm. Anyone got a Busa that could measure between ur rotors for comparison??

On a more positive note it'll mean I get to use the monoblocks :D

Rotor spacers on (thanks Gitzy, ur a legend) and sitting great so now I've got the calipers that I wanted on, well happy with how they look.

New bearings throughout, powdercoating all fixed up and it's starting to go back together. Really not liking the red springs though..

Spent such a long time trying to paint the plastic covers on the fuel injection. Sanding and prepping and sanding and prepping only for the finish to either go wrinkly or be covered in tiny air bubbles.

So rather than keep doing the same thing over and over for the same (i.e. shit) result I thought I'd try something else. Seen those cars that have been wrapped? Well I bought a little piece of matt material and what do you know it's easy as to put on and sure as shit looks better than any one of the 5 finishes I got with paint :D

Even had enough left to do the reservoirs on the rear suspension which I reckon even takes the focus off the red springs a little.

Indicators that don't produce as much lift as those bad boys are a future buy (I forgot how big they were until I refitted them and at first glance I even thought my kids had put extensions on them!).

Waiting on black bars, then the exhausts go on and some brake lines.

Lovin the old school look :)

Speaking of exhausts I painted the headers and collector with heat proof pot belly stove paint and because it comes off rather easily until you get some heat into it (and my wife was at work) they somehow found themselves in my kitchen :D
