I've got a question for the guys who have squeezed a ZX9R motor into a ZX7R frame.

What is the difference with the frames? (visually they look very similar)

Is there any issues with the frame not being braced on the ZX7R frame with a 9 motor?

I want to remove the brace from my Zx9R, but as previously discussed I'm unsure if the frame can handle it.

Thanks in advance

To be honest i have never really had much of a look at a zx9 frame i know they changed frames when the when to the c model from the b, and a zx9 b motor fits into a zxr L model frame without to many worrys but a c model is a bit of a head fuck i can only assume the the brace is there for a reason. Sorry but i dont think im much help on this one

Does anyone know if there is an issue if I remove the frame down tubes to reduce weight?

Are you trying to put a ZX9C motor in a ZXR frame? I know the ZX9B slots pretty much straight in (as Timbo said), but the ZX9C and E motors are quite different.

The ZX9B motor into the ZX7R frame involves a bit of cutting and shutting from what I've heard, so maybe the ZX9C might be a better fit in the ZX7R frame?? I'm confused now too....

By the way, the ZX9C and E frames have no additional frame tubes.

Sorry Guys for the confusing question, I'll try again:

I've got a ZX9R B model which has the down tubes which I want to remove to reduce weight, bulk etc.

I've noticed the ZX7R does not have the down tubes, and earlier TurboKat hinted they're not really needed on the ZX9R B model either.

So trying to figure out if I will lose any stability or structual Integrity to the frame if I remove them.
