whos going to this one? anyone planning on riding out to this? if so, got a planned route?

im gridding up in prostock for the first time in ASBK. just wondering who from here is heading out to spectate the racing?
based my PB QR lap times (1:15's) againts last years lap times i stand a good chance of being competetive in my class (D grade), but of course the other guys would have no doubt stepped up their game this year.
just got my senior national MA licence last week, ive paid my entry into the event, and have received a follow up call to confirm my entry, ive got a pt bitch, so im good to go!!

a quick thank you must go to the following:
www.A1racepaint.com.au
phils finishing off the repair work from my last crash at Morgan Park earlier in the year.
www.pmlubricants.com.au
picking up 2 sets of the dunlop control race slicks tomorrow, which have been generously supplied by pm lubricants, with out this i wouldnt have been able to compete, due to the tyre bill being 1200 bucks! :o.
www.superbikesupply.com.au
has chipped in with a new chain and rear sprocket and use of their generator and portable fridge (mmmm cold drinks :D).
www.mcdyno.com.au
are giving the bike a once over before the race weekend
please take the time to check these local business' out, with out their support, i wouldnt make it to the grid at all.

so, keep an eye out for the older yellow/black gixxer if your out there.

im both excited and nervous all the same.

cheers.joe.

Joe seemed happy after the race.

And went too fast for the camera (or my gf) so caused many empty shots apart from this 1 :)

well, the weekend is all said and done, while i didnt set the track on fire,
but i had an absolute ball and am so glad to have entered, i learned a lot at this event, and ive come away with more confidence in my bike,
a greater understanding of the dunlop tyres which have proven to be so much more different to the pirelli's im used to running with.
i finally feel im getting back to my pace i was setting last year. practice was a casual affair, no pressure, no officials being nazi's or anything,
it was so laid back i thought i was back in the sporties pits haha!

quickest time i managed to set was a 1:19.2 for the day,

saturday brought in the qualifying, while i went ok, i wasnt totally happy with my efforts nor with how the bike felt, it was chewing rear tyres badly,
giving me no exit grip and carrying the front for to long down the straights, i didnt have the luxury of time to keep fiddling with the bike, so i enlisted the help of teknik racing
to help me narrow down my handling woes, very quickly we established the shock is set up to soft for me, and overloading the rear tyre.

adjustments ensued, and i got down to a mid 18 by the time qualifying was done. and came in 22nd fastest

1st race was for me, a learning experience, didnt know who done what and just spent the 10 laps feeling everything out.
i must of found some speed resulting in a 1:17.4. i think i finished a place higher then i started

race 2 had a couple bikes come together at turn 3 and a yellow flag was brought out, everyone slowed just that bit more, i had trouble pulling up, and almost hit the rider in front,
soon after we settled down and i was able to get into a groove, unfortunately, i had made a suspension change prior to this race and it made the bike handle worse,
chewing its rear tyre harder again. i couldnt do much and ended up posting a best time of 1:18 and didnt gain any position.

race 3, was a cracker, i went back to the previous susp settings and fitted some new rubber, i got a good start and circulated for the first 3 laps,
getting a feel for it all again, the bike felt good, i had decent grip for a change,
and felt i could trust the front tyre more, so i started to brake deeper and wind on the throttle sooner,
before long i caught up with a rider on an 09 r1 we had a good last 2 laps swapping positions in the end i got his measure and beat him to the line.
i finished the last race on the last lap, posting my best time of the weekend a 1:17.29

the bike ran well, never missing a beat.

and i can confidently say i'll be back for more!!

thanks to the guys (JD, terry, mark) who come and found me in my pit and wished me well, it was much appreciated. sorry i wasnt more talkative with you all :(

thanks must go to those who have been supporting me so far this year. please consider these guys for your future bike needs
there isnt much cash floating round to support racers these days,
so these guys deserve some support back from the riding community, in order to keep it going

steve from www.pmlubricants.com.au who generously supplied my tyres for the weekend and fluids for the year.
tim from www.superbikesuppply.com.au for his support all this year
ricky from www.mcdyno.com.au for getting the bike so sweetly tuned and getting the quickshifter working perfectly
phil from www.a1racepaint.com.au for painting the bike, and getting it back to me with bugger all notice.

my wife, deb snapped some great shots for me.

Bought a business and have no life......

But on the upside, i get a bit more cash to spend on the bikes :) ........... which i won't get to ride :(

Looking at putting a few people on when i finish developing the new business site so i might have a bit more time then, but that might be 2 years away....
