What type of foam do you use with fibreglass?

I need to fill in the rear of zee German seat unit on my SRAD to cover up the battery box and french in the taillight and thought about shaping it with foam then covering with fibreglass to get the right shape.

I remember reading about it on here somewhere but can't find it again and "search" isn't working for me.

you would use a closed cell foam for fibre glassing

Would you believe nobody in Adelaide stocks it!

so I made a base piece with cardboard then fibreglassed over it a couple of times then covered it with spray foam and tomorrow will have a go at shaping it, then filler it and a layer of fibreglass over the top.

efe any way just 2 seal the expanding form will do ,it just gets a bit soft from the polester resin
and never tried but allways told one way to get foam out is two use petol and it eats it out
one way i am yet to try as well for the expanding foam is to seal it with a spray of a mix of pva glue and water
have used this as a release agent for glass and works well

might be the hi density foam we used to use to make gliders (radio controlled) - look for someone that sells "Roofmate" blue foam sheets, cheap as too. you can sand it or cut it with a hot wire cutter made from a transformer and some hi tensile wire as far as I know resins (or epoxys) don't eat it. not 100% on VE tho

Thanks for the replies guys, the sprayfoam was going well until I started cutting it to shape only to find the centre filled with caramel!

the fucking shit never went off properly just created a fucking big blob off goo under a hard shell.

ended up just fibreglassing the tail up flat and removing the battery box, hopefully it fits under the tank.

I'm a bit late with this but I have heard that the "Oasis" foam that florists use is good for the job. Just dont get it wet.
