Shortening a Cabon Muffler

I need to shorten the muffler on the R1 badly. Way too long. Wouldn't be too worried if it were stainless or Titanium, but being Carbon I'm worried it might fray when I come to drill the holes for the rivets.

Any suggestions? Has anyone done this?

i would just whack some good masking tape on it before you cut/drill.

Drilling holes and cutting carbon can be sketchy but as tav said put some masking tape on it and the go for it also use candle wax on your cutting disc it will stop it from grabbing I.e just get a candle and cut it with your grinder this will put an even coat of wax on the disc I also use this method for cutting alloy

dont use a sharp drill bit it will bite in use a dull bit use 1mm grinding disc it wont frey that much

i have heard an axe will yield good results... and to make the main cut you can try rolling over it repetitively with your rover

Com'on guys Jules was asking a serious question, and you guys just take the piss. The easiest way I have found to cut carbon Jules, is to bash it with a baguette, then stuff it with frog legs for strength. Bahaha.
