considering stretching a 954 swingarm about 6-8in over stock

has anyone had much experience with the extension blocks or is it wiser to get another stock swingarm cut and lengthened?

will be just as a drift bike toy so not too concerened about everyday handling woes

thanks

I guess with drifting the lateral forces would be greater than on a straightliner, I'd be opting for one piece but that's just my very humble and uninformed opinion. I'd be staying away from bolt on extensions and cut & shut.

A used swingarm is`nt spensive, so I`d use one and get some blocks welded.

Watch our for your rear shock not being able to cope, greater leverage and all that. ;)

Just get some billet extensions machined up, with a 2 inch section to fit inside the original swingarm, drill two 12mm holes on the inside of the arm where the slugs go in and have them puddle welded as well as having the extension welded in around the joint. Ideally go for a 6 inch slot with possibly a 2 inch extension into the arm, and a two inch internal slug. Look at the way JMC do their drag slots or Spondon, and you'll see exactly what I mean. I'm extending a Bandit 1200 swingarm by 14 inches, using an 8 inch slot and 6 inch solid, giving overall extension of 14 inches. The extension pieces are copied from the JMC arm I have in my old Zed.

Like I said my opinions are mostly uninformed.

But the blocks are how our little friends build the arms anyways

bolt ins are ok ,but Dynomutt is right, machined up weld in replacement for the std end is best
and do any welding in a jig.
Where is Ben, its right up his alley
