brake calipers

hey guys i have just put another set of calipers on my bike and have noticed that a seal around one of the plungers that push on the pads is coming out ,will this cause problems and if so how do you fix it they are a very tight fit.

Invest in a caliper seal kit Steve, I don't think there that pricey, Bleed em, dismantle em, clean em with in an inch of there life, reassemble.. Job Done...

Not sure what calipers your talking about but, here is a reference pic..
Its a relatively easy job and they'll feel like new..

thats easy gitz are those ones back together if so ill take them because there done and ill bolt them on.same calipers mate do you think egay for a kit or local bike shop ,anyone got any idea on cost of a kit

Lol.. If they were mine mate I'd give em too you. Ebay should have a seal kit on there, I think I've seen em before, I check again. Not sure on cost either..

do you know of anyone with spare steel plates for the back,i think they are anti rattle plates maybe

not cheap for a packet of o rings are they

I know hey.. but don't try and buy standard O rings instead.. the ones in the calipers have a taper on them and are tokico specific.. then again I'm not up to scratch on aftermarket O rings, soo i could be wrong.

Its prob just the dust seal.

The fluid seals are a square section, as the piston forces out the seal deforms, when pressure is released the seal resumes its normal shape, and the piston is moved back slightly into the caliper and the brake pad is released. The fluid seals are caliper specific, generic O rings are not suitable.
