Exhaust coatings?

Hey guys,

Long time lurker first time poster, i own a gsx1400 and am interested in coating the headers/collectors in satin black coz im tired of polishing the stainless, has anybody done it, know about it,seen it? My main concern is does it chip easily?

HPC coating is the way forward, looks good and works great..... I don't know about the chipping tho...

Yeah hpc/ceramic coating was my choice too just have to hear about durability.

Yeah i gave up on my 14s pipes long time ago go the black mate it looks good[8D]

I know suzukifreak had a 14 that had a black exhaust but not sure what type of coating it is?

his where akco's from mem you want to steer clear of the standard headers they are twin tubed
inside is the real header pipe and its small as fuck all from mem

Got mine done at competition coatings in syd. Havnt had any probs with the black chipping, have got a couple of scratches on my exhaust tho not sure what from. Its pretty tough stuff!

You can buy ceramic coating in a rattle can now, for about $20. I haven't seen it exposed to heat, it might be shit. But for that price it might be worth a try.

I got mine done there too, however those at AFR last year would have noticed how tarnished/rusted they were starting to look..
