Fritz W. Egli, born (June 30 1937 in Zurich) is a former Swiss motorcycle racer. He is known as a motorcycle frame specialist, and engine tuner. Egli founded his motorcycle speed shop in 1965 and one of his first vehicles included a Vincent Black Shadow,[1] with what was to become his signature large diameter central tube which won a 1968 motorcycle hill climb championship. He went on to become famous for his frame designs for the large Japanese motorcycle engines of the 1970 years, especially the Honda CB750 Four and the first big four-stroke motorcycles of Kawasaki. Today, he builds frame for the Yamaha V-Max and others. One of his most legendary motorcycles, the MRD1, was based on the Kawasaki Z900, powered by turbocharging and nitrous oxide injection with a power of over 180 hp and a top speed of 297 mph. He went on to develop a 1,360 Kawasaki turbo-charge engined motorcycles capable of over 400 mph.
Egli took the Japanese engines, enhanced them and increased their power, then he built them into their own frame designs.[4] The main backbone pipe of his designs are about 12 cm in diameter and they use straight pipes exclusively, a design taken from the Vincent motorcycle. Egli motorcycles have a devoted community that come together at annual meetings./borrowed from wiki/

Egli MRD1
This is the 1986 World Record Version of the MRD 1 with a 300hp engine.
The fairing was designed by Luigi Colani, but not used since the engine
had "breathing" and overheating problems.

This Vmax is not just another tuned Vmax. This one was made by Fritz W. Egli
in Bettwil, Switzerland.

He worked the steering and swingarm bearings, put in his own "Racing Fork"
and 320mm rotors with Brembos. The engine is fed by a two wing
Roots-Supercharger (belt-driven) and a 44 mm Weber double carburetor.

It puts out some unbelievable 204hp and more than 160 Nm between 4500 and
9150 rpm. Cosworth pistons and hardened Carillo piston rods keep the
engine steady.

Mate has the Gpz frame modified heavily to accept RF/GSXR based engine.

Personally not my favourite frame and I think most of all styling, but Fritz certainly knows what he's doing and made them work.

I guess owning a Harris for 27 years allows you to not like the Egli as much as IMO the Harris, for the era you couldn't go past Harris or Spondon for performance and styling, Egli at best functional styling!

i think they were alright for the bikes of 70s-80s i love his idea about straight tubes and using the engine as a connecting element of frame but i luv an idea of frameless bike much more
harris and spondon r lookin kool alone without any bike haha

The Egli Vincent is one of my all time favourite bikes.
This photo is from Stamford Hall in England where they have a good few bike meets. This was a classic and vintage Brit bike show when I parked my Busa under a massive oak tree amongst about 5 Brough Superiors and shed loads of other old Brit bikes.
Fucking philistine I am :D

The epitome of performance and style of that era.
