Cool Pete, we miote just follow you. Not to sure. Mite have a look at some things on the way down and back. I will see what fish and wartty want to do. But on googles maps they say take the new england threw tamworth. only about 920kms.

yeah new england is a shitload further as theres no direct route from tamworth to bathurst , ive done both runs out to gunnedah and down through dubbo and orange... or down to singleton the putty road and then out from lithgow... the highway is shorter but loads of traffic fucking boring and lots of roadworks..there are sahortcuts on whats gated roads through farming land but since we arent on adventure bikes its the long way around :(. if we are going for a 2 day run down then the new england and dubbo run would be nicer out in the sticks but happy to go with the flow

Queenslanders, fuck the Pacific and the New England Highways.

Head to Glen Innes and then turn right to Inverell. Take the Copeton Dam road to Bingara then south toward Manilla. Lake Keepit road to Gunnedah and then south through Coolah and Sofala to Bathurst.

I take this way every time I head south to GP etc. The roads are fabulous and the bacon factor is extremely low (watch out for the Gunnedah coppers though)

I'm keen to go. I'm at Byron Bay, but will meet up where ever is convenient. When we rode to Dubbo we got to Coolah on the first night, so if your keen we might get past Tamwort, and make the second day a bit easier. There are plenty of roads we can go on to avoid highways, just depends on how much time you have. If you guys want to come to Casino via Kyogle we can avoid major highways all the way to Armidale. From there it's highway to Tamworth, then its mostly backroads to Bathurst. I plan to leave Thursday morn and get home Monday arvo. If anyone is real keen I wouldn't mind leaving Wednesday morning and having a bit more fun on the way.

I don't know where Pete got the idea it's an extra 300k's going through Tamworth. From his place it might be.

Just wondering what is needed to go to the ASF meeting at Casino this year, me and a mate was thinking of going down there from the sunshine coast to check it out. Anyone else heading down there, was thinking of leaving very early Saterday morning and getting there around 9am?[:p]
