Hey guys I'm looking at replacing my brake master cylinder and atm looking at a ZX10 one - how interchangeable are they? My bike is a kawi ZXR750 so I'm at least trying to keep it in the family lol.

So do you reckon a ZX10 master might fit the existing lines? I'm after some stopping power to match the HEL lines I'll be getting soon [}:)]

They are very interchangeable mate, they are all universal fit for 7/8 handlebars, its just how you want them to feel, whether you want conventional or radial and what size piston you want 5/8, 14mm, 16mm, 16x20, 18x20 etc etc, different size pistons have different feel and power. And they will suit your shiny new lines fine, just maybe you might have to change the banjo, could be 10 x 1.25 thread or could be 10 x 1.0 thread. Either way there only $10ish for a new one.. clear as mud??

Cheers Mate, no wuccas.

Also usually your front brake light switch should be swappable to the new master, but if it isn't you can pick up a Banjo pressure switch from somewhere like Slipstream Performance QLD (https://www.slipstreamperformance.com.au/store/index.php), or S3 Performance (http://www.s3performance.com.au/) Vic or ebay.. Do a little research on piston sizes in masters, I haven't experienced the ZX10 but I have R1's and Fireblades Etc on my bikes, you just don't want one that has too much bite and not enough feel etc.. Also conveniently Pazzo do individual levers, so If your going to eventually buy some nice levers take note of what model and year the master is for future reference..

Good advice again on the levers and switch. As for piston size I intentionally looked for one a bit bigger because I've felt some one-finger stoppers recently and wouldn't mind something like it.

04 ZX10 also! forgot to ask - it doesn't come with a reservoir - does it matter what size I replace the stock reservoir with? Or should I just use the stock one?

yeah it's all on the cards Gitz. Priority atm the moment when the bike gets back from the shop is brake master cyl and lines, then probs the rear shock after that. Those billets look the goods though ;D

Yep the 04's were pretty good. Apparently the masters on the 07's are different, and to be honest, pretty shitful. Im lookin at putting on a Brembo Master on my bike, thats how bad they feel.

There's bugger all difference between the ZXR & 04 ZX10R M/C for better braking go for the 06-09 radial M/C

Didn't alot of people swap the Kwaka's brakes with the Blades,of the same era???Not sure if it was just the M/C,or the calipers,or both??
I've seen afew classified ads of ZX's for sale with the Blade swap, coz the original brakes were pretty crap.

Yeah so I ended up not getting it after all, the guy sold it by the time I got there but I ended up getting the rear shock out of the same bike ZX10 for when I feel like replacing mine.

SO yeah armed with a bit more of the ol' know how - courtesy of this forum ;) I shop on.

Cheers guys
