Ok, so BGW had 50% of Yoshi Stuff so I snapped up some Stand Bobbins and 2 pairs of bar ends cos I couldn't make up my mind..

http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n487/gitzy841/Project%20TL1000S/DSC00767.jpg

The quality of the Bobbins was great, I loved em..

http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n487/gitzy841/Project%20TL1000S/DSC00768.jpg

Excuse My dirty bike, stoopid rain..

http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n487/gitzy841/Project%20TL1000S/DSC00770.jpg

The Bar end weights were almost identical in shape and weight to the OEM ones, which I liked, the annodizing on the red ones could have been better and the black ones had no logos which was disappointing, the black ones came with bolts and the red ones didn't so that was weird also.

http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n487/gitzy841/Project%20TL1000S/DSC00772.jpg

I didn't really like the red ones..

http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n487/gitzy841/Project%20TL1000S/DSC00773.jpg

So I went for the black ones and the Driven D3 Grips, I think they look good, what do you reckon??

Very nice !
I like the Mk2 Busa/King brakes.
What are you using for a master cylinder ?
Mk2 Busa doesnt have a radial master cylinder,
B-King does but its ugly/funny shape.
I'd imaging a late model GSXR one would be ideal ?

Did you get them from sportsbikeparts2u on EBay? Thats where i got mine. Cheap as chips and packed heaps well just like that.

Definitely get a radial M/C from somewhere.

When are you putting in a new shock....or is it already aftermarket?

Oh and looking good too. Keep the stickers if you keep the front fairing. I also prefer the red bar ends.

Thats them Pete, although I went through http://motorcycleparts2u.com/ instead of there Ebay store..

Yup radial for sure..

Nope still running the Rear Rotary Dampner, looking at other options but I honestly have zero issues with the stock one, I seriously do not ride hard enough to even notice an issue with the stock item..

Crash knobs need some new thinking.
It would be good if they were unobtrusive.
What if they were on some sort of quick action hydraulic ram with a non return valve wired to a inclinometer? Bike leans over 45deg+ and they shoot out ready for action but below that they are retracted and unobtrusive.
Expense and complexity?
What about a fast acting spring system with a ratchet system like a cam chain adjuster and an electronic solenoid to release them to an active position and a servo motor to retract?
Just thinking outside the box.
I'll put in a call to Japan tonight and see what they can come up with. LOL

Lewis Moto

BMW are a bunch of smarty pants. I reckon they will be the first to do something like this.
Surely in years to come manufacturers will see the need to build in some sort of protection off the production line even if it is just solid mounts behind the fairings to protect from sidestand spills or low speed drops. Paint and stickers are cheaper than whole plastics or engine covers.

Update time Ladies, today I attacked the front end..

Ingredients:

98 TL1000S

09/10 Hayabusa Forks
09/10 Hayabusa Calipers
09/10 Hayabusa Brake Lines
09/10 Hayabusa Axle + Spacer
07 GSXR 1000 front fender
4 x 2.5mm Disc Spacers
4 x Longer M10x70 x 1.25 Stainless Socket Head Bolts
4 x 5mm Shouldered Caliper Spacers

2 x Stands for support

Here are the stands I knocked up at work..

http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n487/gitzy841/Project%20TL1000S/DSC00883.jpg

Put Bike on Rear Stand

Put on front stand

http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n487/gitzy841/Project%20TL1000S/DSC00886.jpg

Place stands under crash bobbins, these puppys run through the frame so i figured plenty of support, then I took front stand off letting it rest on my homemade stands..

Luke, yeah I missed the reflector bolts I was a tad lazy there lol, and chasing up some more fender bolts now, the four i used on the front were the stock 4 off the TL how convenient huh, gotta love Suzuki interchangeability.

shit yeah!

nicely done
so the lower fork clamping area is the same on the TLS? the tlr forks were a bit bigger than the gixxer ones i put on
would have thought you would need to shim the lowers

how is the static sag? i had to wind in preload on the gixxer forks on mine (cos i was too cheap to get new springs...)
is the fork length similar? i know under heavy braking i would rub things on the TLR
scared the crap out of me at oran park, just want to save you having to buy new undies

would definitely be an idea to get some verniers and make sure your lower clamps are clamping something
not that i wouldnt mind buying a cheap tls wreck LOL

how is the static sag? not sure haven't set it yet, i'm just going with stock Busa settings for now till I fiddle more i had to wind in preload on the gixxer forks on mine (cos i was too cheap to get new springs...) is the fork length similar? within 10mm, alot of TLS owners drop there forks through the triples by 10-15mm so pretty much same in the end, maybe a little quicker in the steering i know under heavy braking i would rub things on the TLR

Bitubo on the shopping list Mate, as is a better steering damper, prob Hyperpro or Trible Performance.

Just picked up a Scotts damper for mine.. Brilliant bit of kit. Let me know if you're going to get your Bitubo O/S and I'll order with you and split the postage ;)

me three, for a different model of course, but been trying to find a reasonably priced bitubo retailer myself with not much luck!

When Mrs Gitzy is finally pregnant, I will be blaming JACKTAR [:o)]

Anyhoo now I got your attention, for those who asked or were wondering or weren't wondering but have commenced reading, I just took the TL for a ride with new front end..

First impressions after having done 700clicks last weekend so it was an easy comparo over stock.

*She steers slightly quicker, prob due to fork length reduction over stock. Yes??

*PT & Fimp are on it, there is muchos settings to be played with to correct it all, I have it set to stock Hayabusa, although it felt smooth as apposed to harsh I didn't feel confident on my usual back roads..

*The brakes are ABYSMAL, the stock TLS master is no good for the Tick Tack Tokico Radials, so that needs to be sorted.. the pads are brand new and I wanted to bed them in so I wasn't to hard on them, but in comparo the stock items felt razor sharp..

Otherwise I am over all impressed, bearing in mind I'm neither Alan Cathcart or Casey Moaner, these are just the opinions of a late 20's grandma motorbicycle operator..

This wraps up yet another Glitz & Glamour update for that damn thread with no Streetfighter in it.. ;)

I'm not fightering it as yet cos I'm a sook and I like my bulbous googly eyed hunk of plastic on the front, but she's wearing me down Mate.

Def Joe, I'll be onto the that fairly soon..

Funny you ask Rod, I've been thinking heaps about R1 lately, I've always loved the stance of The Wretched with the clip ons, so maybe that route with a big round cafe style headlight.. Decisions decisions..:)

So I got an email just before Xmas from Vandriver that my parts were ready... Bugger talk about bad timing but not to worry Mrs Gitzy ahem Ex Mrs Gitzy to the rescue.. egggselent ..

anyhoo ..

Red 5 Bolt pressure Plate. I have no intention of fitting this I even forgot I was on the list but I'd say it will be one hell of a rare part in the future so I think I'll keep it. Also a black and a red Starter end plate as I couldn't figure out what I wanted and a rear brake fluid resi which I also forgot I was on and could/should have got one of Ben but hey parts are parts.

So I went to fit a new billet dust seal today but couldn't get the top clamp off, I remember it was uber tight to get on, but after rubber mallet and belting it, it went on. Well wasn't it effin difficult to get off turns out i had to remove the whole front end, i dropped the forks and it literally hung onto the steering stem threads, turns out the hole was a poofteenth two small for the stem thus i ruined the bottom of the clamp smashing it with a drift to get it off, bugger still usable with other TL front end maybe on a cafe racer project or something.

So I had a spare raw one just laying about, as you do.

Looks pretty blingwa.

While I had the wheel out to steal the new Angel ST off the back of the Bandit for nfr, how convenient lol.

I figured I'd freshen up what has been bugging me for a while, I think during its life some brake fluid has been dripped over it I'm not sure happened before moi. So I cleaned it up freshened it with some VHT caliper paint and new bolts and VOILA looks a treat.
