Guys I have ripped off the fairing and induction equipment on a ZX7R and have been told to rejet the carbs or it will run shit. Before I get it back on the road what can I expect and what do I need to do to make it run sweetly? It already has a dynajet kit installed.
Also what is the air pump and all the gizmos on the rocker cover for? Can I get rid of them and keep or increase the power output?[:p]

This was only added to the other day:

It's for Cammy's ZX9, but it is essentially the same. Also, there's a post at the end in relation to getting rid of the crap on top of your tappet cover.

Tony on my zx7r i have a k&n filter and the carbs where rejetted by the previous owner to suit it and the full hindle zorst. when i striped it nude i didnt have to retune or modify any thing. this is not to say that a dyno tune and some aditional retune tuning would not get some better results, however all those that have been for a ride with me since its been back on the road will vouch for its good performance.

Thanks Watevr, interesting! So what does all that gear on the rocker cover do anyway?????

all the stuff on the top of the rocker is the kleen air system. It is for reducing emissions. It lets fresh air flow through some reed valves when the engine is loaded. The air is directed into the the exhaust manifold where it helps to burn of excess fuel and stuff. It can be removed without causing any running troubles.

Here ya go - I sent this to someone a while ago:

Basically you join the crankcase breather at the back of the motor(under carbs) to the Kleen Air intakes on top of the cam cover. I used some 19MM ID car coolant hose (1 metre from my local car shop cost $8)and some garden irrigation pipe adaptors (black plastic 19MM) to connect. You need 1 x "T" connector for the Kleen end (take off all the fittings until you have 2 hoses left on top of the cover, face them towards each other and put in the "T". It's a bit snug, but it will fit) to bring this down to one pipe, then I used 3 "L" connectors and suitable cut lengths of hose to move the hose around the airbox (I put mine on the right side - there's
enough room under the tank).

You'll also have 2 small vaccumm hose fittings coming from the inlet
manifolds to the Kleen valve - make sure you either block these or
connect them together. Same with the airbox - there will be 2 inlets to plug (one on the front for the Kleen intake, another on the back for the crankcase breather intake).

That's it. All up it cost me about $15. I reused the crankcase pipe
clamp on the crankcase end (widened it a bit), but did not need to use any other clamps as the pipe was snug on the hose fittings and runs in a vaccumm. And besides, any air leaks into the pipe would only be going to the exhaust port after combustion.

I've read on other forums that this mod alone can give you 4 to 5 HP extra.
