Found this stuff today at Mitre 10. I looked everywhere for some 'self amalgamating' tape when I did the bike. All I found was sticky stuff.

This is non stick and can handle -65 to +500'F. It says that within 24hrs it will bond to itself and become one.
Wrapped a pen in it as a test. Goes on easy, looks neat.
Mmmmm roll of silicone tape.......Wheres the wife ....[}:)]

Good timing Sharky, my loom looks like a multicoloured rats nest after chopping and resoldering. A trip to mitre10 it is.....

Looks good, the self amalgamating tape you were after is known as "23" tape, or Scotch 23, its good stuff and I use it as part of my job, I have used the silicon tape before, but not since I went into mining, I prefer the silicon for the bike though.

Go to Dick Smith Electronics, they have 'Weld Tape' which is their product name for self amalgamating tape, $10 per role. A lot cheaper than other places too.
