SO lets say someone racks up points.... is on a 12 month 1 point licence and with one month to go when overtaking a truck happens to break the speed limit and Mr Plod was driving the other way...
Well that means this bloke will lose his licence but my mate has seens there is an option for a 'special hardship order' and believe he meets the criteria.
Firstly has anyone in QLD been through this as my friend will be greatful for any hints pointers tips shit basically anything because i need my licence, i mean he needs his licence ....
Im sure theres a couple of you fine upstanding members of the community whom have been through this... HELP

It's a bit unlucky to lose his last point in that way. Was just as unlucky losing the other 11?

I know a few folk on hardship licences,
but none were issued to folk on a "1 point/1 year" licence.

You can pay me $1000 a week to be your taxi driver.
(maximum of 16 weeks- and I get to drive your boat) :D

...or you could ask folk about a fucking good lawyer.

i was talking to my mate who lost his drink driving and there is a process you can go through but there are a whole pile of conditions, he wasnt able to get it because he had already lost his licence a year or so before (for 40+km over) so was classed as a repeat offender. but from what i understand anyone can apply its just whether they grant you one (usually only for to and from work and only if there is no public transport available in your area) dont know if they helps you

Yes i lost all my points last year actually 18 as the second offence of over 30 less than 40 within 12 months is 8 points...
I had a choice tick the 3 month loss of licence due to demerit points or tick the 12 months 1 point... i lasted 11 months so close yet too fucking far ... im not going to pay it for a few months and see what happens... hopefully the fucked up system reinstates my full 12 points in 4 weeks time then ill pay the fine and see what happens.
Reading the hardship bullshit i dont think i will have a problem as i cannot get to work via public transport as there is none to and from work and since i own my own business and me not getting there would also affect my employees surrounded by flood ravaged suburbs helps etc etc ...
basically a couple of grand i guess to a lawyer and i should be right for a restricted licence for 3 months if they take it away

you should be sweet, might get away with it if you delay paying it. but if not find a lawyer that specialises in that and they can work their magic. dont mean to rub salt in the wound but if you were on probation and loose that point the 3 month suspension is doubled to 6 months!

paying it late means jack shit, i`ve been where your at. as for special licence,in my case, was told by a lawer, that if you try to ask for special treatment twice within a 5yr period, they`ll say stick it up your arse, i cant comment on what might happen in your case of what your history is. i was a dick on the road for quiet a few years(repeat offender style) learnt my lesson, as i need for work,to put roof over head, and food in belly

12 points isnt enough in this day and age!points system is outdated!
its not the 70s ffs more vehicles, more ppl, greater lifestyles!
more ppl suffereing due to these baby boomers living in the past!
due to it, its a burden and a nonproactive way to deal with it,spec with employment!ppls need to get to work,or thats employment,a driving job or similiar!
surely there is a new system?
nope!this cuntry is just fkd simple!
and employing a stinking, thieving, lying lawyer,is just beyond hanious!but it usually gets the job done, alas!fkn lol!

Mate get a lawyer. Or Barrister and spend the money. The only people I've seen get a hardship licence issued are those who turn up to court with a lawyer and the Dept of Transport rep generally wont oppose then because you've got a brief to beat them into submission.
