I often see snakes in my line of work,
Black's, Brown's, Red Bellies, Tree Snakes, Carpets etc.
...but as a Pommie I still aren't too clued up on all of them.

I know there's a few folk on here who are.....

so.....

What is it ?

If it's any help, it was at Natural Arch, in the forest,
very damp / humid area. S/E Qld.

There were no similar pic's in my "Big Boys Book of Snakes"
but putting little large's info and "Yellow" into google
came up with something very close.

Thanks.

Apparently Brown (common) Tree Snakes go black / yellow when they are out in the sun.

Don't they even give you a porta loo for a bit of privacy while you're laying pipes?

Apparently snakes are sposed to be protected.

Common Tree Snake definitely. We get them in our bathroom and kitchen occasionally. Beautiful animal. Good for keeping the rats and mice down.

Oh and BTW - only dickheads harm or kill snakes. 99% of them will not attack unless provoked. Leave them be and they go about their business.

The first is a Green Tree Snake. They don't change colour in the sun to dark. They are a snake that have a wide range of colours. Black, blue, green, orange.

The 3rd photo is a Red Belly.

Both snakes are mainly frog eaters. And I'd agree with Zooks- cunts that kill snakes are fuckheads, leave them alone and they'll leave you alone.

Got to love the red belly's a whole heap up at my old farm in central Vic every spring they used to get horny n silly and would chase anything that moved including humans. Was great for a bit of fun, there all good just stand still and they check you out and piss off.

gunna use that :D

personally id rather killing a snake that got too close that risking it biting anything. but then again in all my 24 years ive only had to take on one snake and that was because i was walking my fox terrier and the snake seemed pretty damn interested in her.

You could have walked away from the snake Freddy.Snakes don't see dogs as a prey item, they see them as a threat to their lives. So the snake would have been showing defensive behaviour, not aggression as it is often confused for.

Every year in Australia there are about 3000 snake bites, of those on average 2 people die. Most people that get themselves bitten are the heroes that try to show off to there mates by catching the snake/trying to kill it. Every now and then someone is unfortunate enough to stand on or put their hand near a snake unknowingly and gets themselves bitten, which is unfortunate, but in most cases the snake will move away before a human knows it is around the area.

I have a buisness relocating snakes from house/public places etc etc I have NEVER been chased by a snake, or met a person that a snake has caught. In the last 10years removing snakes I havev reomved about 650odd Eastern Brown snakes from around the Gladstone Region, the snake responcible for the most snake bite deaths in Australia, 14 Coastal Taipans(they are very shy snakes and don't like being near humans) a few Red Bellies and heaps of small elapids. When I was doing public demonstrations I used inlands, browns, adders, Mulgas, spotted blacks etc etc and never came close to being bitten. The people that usually do have stories to tell of having a Taipan chase them from the car, to the back shed, around the local farmers windmill in his back paddock and back to the house are usually the shortarse redneck alcoholic wankers that like to bignote themselves about riding fast, punching every second bloke they meet(the local drunk) out etc etc.

Cheers,

Kris.

The biggest problem with snakes, as with anything is people fear what they don't understand.

As well as the Brisbane weather, (and never seeing frost or snow again)
The Australian wildlife was also a major draw in moving here.

The view from my shed most days...
