Hi guys, finally convinced the wife to let me buy a new toy. I'm trying to get some info regarding Buell's, specifically the 1125r/cr. I only have 1 mate who has a Buell and he loves it. Does anyone else have any experiences (good or bad) with the Buell bikes?

I know that Buell has stopped manufacturing too, does anyone have info regarding a parts plan or potential problems with repairs in the near future???

Any ionfo would be great. Look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers

I have one. I love it! Not the smoothest, or fastest, or best looking, but the best bike to own!

Parts are available at http://www.erikbuellracing.com/ including new "racing" ecms and things like that. Harley is pretty shit to deal with, but because they are used to yuppies buying chrome things to put on them that I have had pipes off mine to be HPC, played with headlights and added HIDs, added power outlets, and all sorts of stupid things to it, and have had no worries with warranty claims. As long as you read up on what you need and can tell them what you want then you will be fine.

Word on the interwebs is Erik Buell is setting up to make a homologated race bike this year, so will be back into street bikes. There is now plenty of info on tuning them yourself, and there are plenty of aftermarket parts. Great group of people at http://buellersdownunder.com and great info at http://badweatherbikers.com/

Have you ridden one? It is worth it!

Hi mate, thanks for the reply.

No i havn't ridden one yet. i only have one mate, who has a lightning, and he loves it. I'm 6'3" and 110kg so was looking at getting a big twin to pull my ass around.

I read last night that Harley will be looking after servicing and parts for another 7-10 years??

I am 6'4 and ~130 and it pulls like a freaking train! Harley in the USA is legally obligated to distribute parts for 7 years, so HD Australia will have them too. Erik Buell Racing has the parts and the knowledge and are still making the bikes, albeit in race only guise for the moment.

Harley Australia will be carrying the parts and servicing on too? Have they released any documents confirming that? Would hate to buy one and then be stuck for parts

I don't know if there was anything official. Depends on your local dealer. Mine are muppets, but they do what I tell them to re: the Buell. I figure I can just buy parts from EBR if it becomes an issue.

Service parts and upgrades are available aftermarket, so it shouldn't be a problem.
